Continue to strengthen cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan

On the morning of July 10, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group, received Mr. Hagiuda Koichi, Member of the House of Representatives, Head of the Policy Research Committee and a delegation of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP) who is visiting Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to appreciate the good development of Vietnam-Japan relations, including the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the LDP, and discussed the development of bilateral relations in the coming time, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world , and to strengthen relations between young leaders and young parliamentarians, local relations and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Standing member of the Secretariat Truong Thi Mai congratulated the LDP on its successes, affirmed Vietnam's respect for the Vietnam-Japan relationship, and highly appreciated Japan's development cooperation and investment in Vietnam.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai proposed that Japan strengthen the foundation of the two-party relationship in the two-country relationship, increase high-level exchanges and contacts, promote practical cooperation in all fields, continue to provide new-generation ODA suitable to Vietnam's development needs; coordinate at multilateral forums and Japan supports Vietnam in maintaining peace, stability and cooperation in the East Sea in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Head of the LDP Policy Research Committee Hagiuda Koichi said that Japan attaches importance to Vietnam in its policy towards the region and wishes to coordinate with Vietnam to organize activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and to implement the contents discussed between General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and LDP Chairman and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the online high-level talks in February 2023.

Mr. Hagiuda Koichi affirmed his wish to continue strengthening cooperation between the two Parties, coordinate with Vietnam in the field of human resource training, effectively implement the Vietnam-Japan University project, and contribute to promoting exchanges between research institutions, businesses, and people of the two countries.

Appreciating the contributions of the Vietnamese community to Japan's socio-economic development, Mr. Hagiuda Koichi said that in the coming time, Japan will expand the acceptance of highly skilled workers from Vietnam.

Mr. Hagiuda Koichi expressed his wish to strengthen relations between Japan and ASEAN in the year commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-ASEAN relations, cooperate in strengthening the international order based on the rule of law, and presented Japan's views on a number of international political and economic issues.

On the same day, comrade Le Hoai Trung, member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central External Relations Commission, held talks with Mr. Hagiuda Koichi and the delegation; comrade Nguyen Hong Dien, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Industry and Trade, had a working session with the delegation.

During the talks and meetings, the two sides discussed in depth measures to promote bilateral relations through the Party, State, National Assembly channels, people-to-people and local exchanges, and promote cooperation in areas such as security-defense, economy-trade and investment, as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern.
