Information about the impact of storm No. 3 with heavy rain that could cause flooding in many areas made the atmosphere at Vinh market busier and more urgent than ever.

On the morning of July 22, reporters at key areas such as Dong and Tay communal houses recorded dozens of traders actively moving, placing goods high, using tarpaulins and waterproof plastic to cover goods, limiting damage when heavy rain continues.

Ms. Hoang Thi Ly - a small business owner at Dinh Tay shared: "Every year when there is a storm or heavy rain, we are worried and cannot sleep well. Like in the years: 2017, 2019, 2024, the water was up to the roof of the kiosk, all the goods were wet, and all the capital was lost. Now, when we hear about the impact of storms and heavy rain, we have to prepare early, otherwise we will suffer."
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a dry food trader, said: “Rice and other grains need to be thrown away if they are even slightly damp. This morning, I took the initiative to place the goods on shelves higher than 1 meter and cover them with plastic. With the rain and wind, few people go to the market, so I will probably stop selling for a few days, both to ensure safety and to preserve the goods.”

In fact, most of the traders at Vinh market have had "bloody experience" from many previous floods, so this time they did not wait until the water reached their feet to jump. Some households proactively stopped selling for a few days to ensure safety, accepting the loss of short-term income to preserve goods worth hundreds of millions of dong.
A representative of Vinh Market Management Board said that in recent days, the unit has mobilized all forces to be on duty, propagandize, and remind traders to proactively prevent and combat, especially heavy rain due to storm circulation that can cause severe flooding. Drainage and electricity systems are also being checked and treated to ensure safety. In addition, the Market Management Board is ready to support people in cleaning and transporting goods when necessary.

It is known that Vinh market is the largest market in Nghe An province, with over 3,400 business households. Over the years, Vinh market has always maintained its position as the leading and important commercial center of the province, as well as a place for regional cultural exchange, a favorite destination for tourists when coming to Nghe An .

However, this market is often flooded during the rainy and stormy season, causing traders to lose everything many times. Traders hope that the authorities and sectors will soon renovate and upgrade the market, especially the Tay communal house area, so that people can feel secure in trading and making a long-term living, so that the market is no longer a "lowland area" every rainy and stormy season./.
