On September 15, the Southeast Asian Publishers Association (ABPA), the Ministry of Information and Communications , the Vietnam Publishing Association and the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City jointly organized an international scientific conference on "Protecting book copyright in cyberspace".
At the conference, the presentations identified that the development of the Internet and the remarkable progress of technology have created conditions for authors, copyright owners, and publishing units to disseminate and store works more quickly and widely.
However, the management capacity of enterprises, publishers and the copyright protection awareness of users are still limited, making the situation of copyright infringement in publishing activities quite complicated.
Although Vietnamese authors and publishing units have proactively implemented a number of solutions, due to low synchronization, the results obtained are very limited.
Therefore, the international conference "Protecting book copyright in cyberspace" exchanged, discussed, and shared experiences and solutions to create tangible, practical results in protecting book copyright in general and protecting book copyright in cyberspace in particular.
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen, Director of the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, Ministry of Information and Communications; Vice President of the Vietnam Publishing Association, said that the workshop is an opportunity for countries to share effective experiences in the fight to protect copyrights of books in general and cyberspace in particular for each subject including: government agencies, associations, businesses, authors, owners of works...
From there, feasible solutions within the ASEAN community and national scope will be studied to prevent book piracy.
