
On the morning of August 29, Hai Phong Agricultural Extension Center organized the Forum "@ linking value chains, consuming agricultural and aquatic products effectively and sustainably".
The forum was attended by representatives of city authorities, scientists from the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, businesses, cooperatives, and farmers producing typical agricultural products.
At the forum, representatives of the authorities assessed the current situation, analyzed the opportunities and challenges of the city's agriculture and fishery sector. From there, it was necessary to create a forum connecting the State, businesses, scientists - technicians and farmers, in order to promote close links and long-term companionship in production practices.

Representatives of typical agricultural enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers discussed production experiences according to production chains; application of technical advances and VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards; support policies in production; building and developing brands, enhancing value, and expanding domestic and foreign consumption markets. According to the Agricultural Extension Center, Hai Phong Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, after the merger, Hai Phong city has many opportunities and distinct advantages to develop value chains, link product consumption, contribute to developing agriculture in a smart, safe direction, towards sustainable development and global integration.

The whole city currently has 185,000 hectares of agricultural production, including nearly 160,000 hectares of rice with an output of 800,000 - 900,000 tons of paddy/year; 45,000 hectares of vegetables; 28,000 hectares of fruit trees; more than 1,000 hectares of flowers and ornamental plants. Livestock production reaches 244,000 tons of fresh meat, 360 million eggs/year; aquaculture 23,000 hectares, output of about 190,000 tons/year; marine exploitation reaches over 681,000 tons/year.
In the fields of cultivation, animal husbandry and aquaculture, initially, production and product consumption chains have been formed, bringing high efficiency.
