Information about the confirmation of data breach of the social network Zalo has caused great concern about the security of one of the most widely used communication platforms in our country.
According to the hackers, many sensitive data such as phone numbers, usernames and display names of Zalo users, have been compromised. A sample of the stolen data is said to have been shared as evidence of the breach, although as of now, Zalo and the authorities have not made any confirmation or denial about the legitimacy of this breach.
Concern for Zalo user community
The incident has caused concern among the popular social media community in Vietnam, many of whom use the app for both personal and work purposes. With hackers having access to phone numbers and usernames, the risk of cybercriminals carrying out phishing attacks or even identity theft is high.
Security experts advise Zalo users to be more vigilant and take precautions. This includes avoiding clicking on suspicious links or replying to unwanted messages as they may be part of phishing schemes. Additionally, enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) and changing passwords regularly are also recommended as proactive protection measures.
While the extent of the breach is still unclear, experts warn that even partial disclosure of personal information could pose a serious security risk. While more details are awaited, users should exercise caution when interacting online.
Currently, Zalo has not made an official statement about the incident and cybersecurity agencies in Vietnam are said to be investigating this issue.
