Understanding this advantage, Bac Kan Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company (Duc Xuan ward) has partnered with local people to grow turmeric naturally in the hilly areas of Nghien Loan, Cho Don, Bach Thong, Ba Be, Phong Quang, etc.

Turmeric plants grown naturally for over two years produce large, mature tubers with a high concentration of active compounds. Numerous studies indicate that turmeric grown in this region has a superior curcumin content compared to many other areas.

Ms. Ban Thi Nuong, from Ban Chieng village, Phong Quang commune, shared: "My family utilizes the vacant land under the forest canopy to grow turmeric. The plant is easy to care for, almost free from pests and diseases, and we don't use pesticides, so it's very clean. We plant it once, let the plant grow on its own, and harvest it when the season comes."

According to local estimates, each hectare of turmeric yields about 20 tons of tubers during harvest season. With an average price of 5,000 - 7,000 VND/kg, people can earn from 100 - 140 million VND/hectare/season. Thanks to this stable income, locals jokingly call turmeric the "gold-producing plant" of the mountains.
