( Bqp.vn ) - On the morning of May 22, at the National Martyrs' Cemetery on Road 9, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province solemnly held a ceremony to receive, pay tribute to, and bury the remains of 12 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos. Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense , and Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee 515 attended and directed the ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were Colonel Hoang Tuan Hien, Deputy Director of the Policy Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army), Deputy Chief of Office of the National Steering Committee 515; Colonel Doan Xuan Buong, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 4, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 4; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Quang Tri Province Nguyen Dang Quang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province Vo Van Hung; Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Quang Tri Province Hoang Nam. On the side of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, there were comrades: Deputy Governor, Head of the Special Working Committee of Savannakhet Province Ling Thong Seng Ta Van; Major General Si Tha Vi Say, Political Commissar of the Military Command of Savannakhet Province, Deputy Head of the Special Working Committee of Savannakhet Province; representatives of functional agencies of Quang Tri Province, units of the armed forces of Quang Tri Province, along with a large number of union members, youth and local people.

In the dry season of 2023 - 2024, although the search and collection of the graves of martyrs who died in Laos encountered many difficulties and hardships, especially due to the remote and rugged mountainous terrain and harsh weather, with a high sense of responsibility, the officers and staff of the Martyrs' Remains Collection Team 584 (Quang Tri Provincial Military Command) searched for and collected the remains of 12 martyrs of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Experts in Savannakhet province and brought them back to Vietnam.
Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam presented the eulogy at the ceremony.
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam affirmed that the sacrifice of the heroic martyrs is a noble symbol of Vietnam's heart towards international friends; is a decisive factor in the victory of the revolutions of Vietnam and Laos; creates the legend of the simple but heroic, youthful but brave Vietnamese volunteer soldiers. Vietnamese cadres, soldiers and people vow to strive to build their homeland and country to be more and more prosperous and happy, and constantly foster the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos "forever green, forever lasting".

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Governor of Savannakhet Province Ling Thong Seng Ta Van emphasized that the Party Committee, government, people and armed forces of Savannakhet Province in particular and Laos in general would like to express their deep emotion and condolences for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs of the Vietnamese Volunteer Army and Experts who did not spare their blood and bones, fought and heroically sacrificed for the noble international duty, for the socialist ideal and for the solidarity, close bond, especially the loyalty and purity between Vietnam and Laos. Deputy Governor of Savannakhet Province Ling Thong Seng Ta Van affirmed that the Lao Party, State and People will forever remember the fighting history of the Lao People and the heroic historical pages of the Laos-Vietnam fighting alliance.

Before the heroic martyrs, the delegates offered flowers and incense, expressing gratitude for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who devoted their whole lives, fought and heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the People and for the noble international duty.
