“Awakened” by interesting and new art projects, Hanoi National University building has become a destination for many tourists who love heritage and want to explore historical beauty in the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024.
Hanoi National University Building, formerly known as Indochina University, opened its doors to visitors for the first time with creative art exhibitions.
The interactive art exhibition complex "Indochina Sensation" at the building, at 19 Le Thanh Tong, running until November 17 is an event that gives visitors the opportunity to visit the nearly 100-year-old building and 22 creative works of art.
The main lobby of the building, with its dome and tall decorative columns, is the space to welcome visitors. The artists created arched glass panels on the doors overlooking the main street, both providing light and creating the feeling of a giant stained glass painting, inspired by the image of light bulbs symbolizing the light of knowledge.
Passing through the Nguy Nhu Kon Tum hall is a multi-emotional art space with the concert video "Dai Tuong 2 - Son Ha Dien Nghia" and the art video "Thang Duong Nhap That".
On the upper floors, from the transparent lacquer paintings on mica by artist Le Dang Ninh, combined with the sound installation by artist Nhung Nguyen on the roof of the 3rd floor of the building, visitors seem to return to the past with multi-sensory experiences.
Follow the small stairs to the 5th floor of the building, you can see the dome of the main hall. Here, there are decorative works such as: chandeliers by architect Le Phuoc Anh; and the doctoral stele installation inspired by the decorative design project of the Indochina University building by architect Ernest Hebrard.
Nearly 100 years have passed, but the image of two phoenixes still remains on the ceiling of the building, although they have faded over time. For Asians, the phoenix is the embodiment of faith, power, and victory. Therefore, artist Pham Trung Hung has once again depicted the image of this animal using 3D mapping technology.
Along the experience route are sculptures, terracotta, especially the arrangement of retrospective research books on Indochinese art motifs. This is an opportunity for visitors to enjoy the photographic works of Indochinese architecture by Ngo Xuan Phu, a group of film photographic works using large format film camera techniques produced in the early 20th century by artist Pham Duy.
Leading a group of tourists around the project, painter Nguyen The Son, lecturer School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts (Hanoi National University) shared: "The exhibition is a tribute to generations of teachers of the Indochina University who have laid the foundation for artistic, fine arts, architectural creation and the continuation of contemporary generations as a way to continue history".
The The works at the exhibition blend with the space, creating stories that honor creative art. Many ideas are based on the history and style of Indochina, attracting tourists to visit.
