Although female officers of the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development ( Agribank ) have different backgrounds and circumstances and hold different positions, they all have in common the fact that they always strive to inherit the traditions and good qualities of Vietnamese women, actively study, work creatively, build happy families, and enhance the qualities of Agribank women "Good at banking, good at housework".
Affirming key position and role
The immortal Testament left to the entire Party and the entire people by President Ho Chi Minh before passing away wrote: “In the cause of fighting against the US to save the country, women have made worthy contributions in combat and production. The Party and the Government need to have a practical plan to train, promote and help so that more and more women can take charge of all tasks, including leadership. Women themselves must strive to rise up. That is a revolution that brings true equality to women.”
Taking his teachings to heart, Agribank women are increasingly demonstrating their important role in society. They have absorbed the characteristics of the times while still maintaining and promoting the beauty of national traditions, the virtues of Vietnamese women that have been formed and cultivated throughout history. Agribank women have been, are and always strive to grow in all aspects.
In fact, in their working positions, they always uphold a sense of responsibility, have a strong political stance, good moral qualities, love the industry, love the profession, unite and make efforts to work and study, achieve many achievements in emulation movements, strive for the goal of building the common home of Agribank to develop more sustainably, modernly and integratedly, contributing to the good implementation of political tasks, guidelines and policies of the Party, the State and the Banking sector.
With nearly 23,000 female union members and employees out of a total of more than 40,000 staff, accounting for over 56% of the entire workforce, Agribank's female employees play a role in almost all areas of operation. Their efforts and achievements in emulation movements have been promptly recognized by leaders at all levels, serving as a basis for selecting and appointing them to appropriate leadership positions. Many of them have been assigned important responsibilities and hold key roles. There are currently 05 female comrades in the leadership positions at the Party Committee, Board of Members, and Executive Board of Agribank, in addition to about 1,000 female employees participating in the leadership of departments, offices at the Head Office and the Board of Directors of Branches...
The joint efforts, creative and effective work, and efforts to overcome difficulties of female cadres and employees have made important contributions to the construction and development of Agribank, creating positive results and impressions. By the end of 2023, Agribank's total assets officially exceeded 2 million billion VND; capital reached over 1.88 million billion VND; total outstanding loans to the economy reached over 1.55 million billion VND, of which nearly 65% of outstanding loans served the development of "Tam Nong". The operational safety ratios ensured regulations. In 2023, Agribank was recognized and honored with the noble award of the First Class Labor Medal on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its establishment (March 26, 1988 - March 26, 2023), a Certificate of Merit from the Governor of the State Bank for outstanding achievements in digital transformation of the banking industry, and was upgraded by Fitch Ratings from "BB" to "BB+" with a "Stable" outlook and continued to be one of the enterprises with the leading brand value in Vietnam.

With the attention and direction of the Party Committee, the Board of Members, the Executive Board, the Agribank Trade Union, and the Committee for the Advancement of Women, the emulation movement "Good at banking, good at housework" in 2023 among female employees of Agribank has been widely implemented throughout the system. The movement has continued the tradition of "Dynamic, creative, elegant, and responsible" among the female staff of Agribank.
The image of a female credit officer attached to a highland village like Ms. Do Phuong Thao, an officer of the Agribank Credit Department in Son La City, Son La Province, is not rare in Agribank. Determining the top priority is to serve the needs of production and business development of economic sectors, especially the agricultural sector, farmers and rural areas, whether in the economic center or in remote areas, Ms. Thao does not mind the hardships of distance and difficulties of roads to reach the place, becoming the "extended arm" of the Bank with the villagers. In the 5 years of being in charge of credit in Chieng Co Commune - Son La City, Ms. Thao has lent to more than 500 customers with outstanding loans of 70 billion VND and no bad debts. Therefore, for 5 consecutive years, Ms. Thao has always completed her tasks excellently.
In addition to local work, female credit officers also constantly learn in their assigned fields, such as Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Linh, a credit officer at Agribank Da Nang Branch. Ms. Linh may be modest when saying that she is lucky, but in reality, to excel and surpass more than 12,000 credit officers nationwide to win the highest prize of the Agribank Excellent Credit Officer Competition in 2023 is a process of learning and improving professional skills. She is always proactive in updating and researching loan procedures, investment credit, export credit, guarantees, capital mobilization, etc. to apply them firmly to her professional work.
The banking industry also has a very special workforce, which are the staff working in treasury. In this position, they not only comply with the monetary and treasury regime, ensuring safety, but are also beautiful flowers of honesty and integrity. Many examples of female union members and Agribank employees who discovered mistakes during transactions and returned large amounts of change to customers, such as Ms. Tran Thi Kim Oanh (Saigon branch) returned 211 items, amounting to 856 million VND; Ms. Phuong Thi Phi Yen (Tay Ninh branch) returned 500 million VND/item; Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Lan (Hai Duong branch) returned 364 items, amounting to 446 million VND; Ms. Pham Minh Phuong (Cao Bang branch) returned 340 million VND/item and many other examples with a total amount returned in 2023 of more than 78.5 billion VND.
Following the noble gestures in social security activities that Agribank persistently carries out and affirms the brand "Bank for the community", many women continue to carry out their own volunteer projects to further cultivate the tradition of kindness and responsibility of Agribank women such as Ms. Vo Thi Nhi - Deputy Head of General Department of Agribank Ha Tinh Branch.
Last year, Ms. Nhi coordinated with her work unit and benefactors to raise more than 52 million VND from individuals and organizations to organize a fun and warm Mid-Autumn Festival for children at the Ha Tinh Orphanage. Previously, she also raised more than 55 million VND and many other items to support people in flood-hit areas in Cam Xuyen, Can Loc, and Thach Ha districts. Most recently, seeing Ms. Nguyen Thi Du (born in 1949, residing in Thach Hoi, Thach Ha) living alone in a house without electricity due to difficult circumstances, Ms. Nhi continued to call for the installation of lighting to help the old lady... For Ms. Nhi, those activities "are not only about helping others but also about helping herself live a more decent and happier life!".
Along with striving to fulfill well the tasks assigned by the agency and unit, female officers and employees of Agribank always fulfill their duties, responsibilities and duties as children, wives and mothers in each family. Due to the specific nature of the Bank's work, many women often have to go to work early and come home late, have to go on long business trips, but they still complete their tasks well, arrange their work scientifically and reasonably; take care of building, preserving and protecting the family, raising healthy children, teaching good children, building a "warm, equal, progressive and happy" family. With the efforts of fathers and mothers in taking care of the whole family, in the 2022-2023 school year, the Agribank system has 457 children of officers who won awards at the provincial, municipal, national and international levels, and were commended and rewarded by the Agribank Trade Union.
Among them, there are also those who have overcome their own "low notes" such as difficult circumstances, husbands who are sick or have passed away, children who are sick... but have overcome their fate, always excellently completing assigned tasks and raising and taking care of their children to be obedient, good at studying, and successful.
In addition to completing their professional tasks well, Agribank female employees also actively participate in collective activities, contributing with the Agribank female employees to cultivate and build the beauty of Agribank's culture through cultural activities, social security, physical education, sports... joining hands to build the common home of Agribank "Connected - Friendly - Affectionate".
With the efforts and achievements in emulation movements, in 2023, 99% of female Agribank employees achieved the title of female employees at the grassroots level. At the conference to commend "Outstanding female managers, female cadres with outstanding achievements" for the period 2019 - 2022 held in March 2023, 215 female employees with outstanding achievements in the movement "Good at banking, good at housework" for the period 2019 - 2022 were commended and rewarded; female Agribank employees were awarded the title "Agribank Women: Dynamic - Creative - Kind - Responsible" by the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Members of Agribank, and the Board of Directors of Agribank.
The timely recognition, evaluation and encouragement of leaders at all levels for female union members and workers is the motivation and belief for Agribank women to rise up and affirm their position, together with Agribank's collective of workers, strive to build Agribank for sustainable development, continue to make important contributions to completing the political tasks assigned by the Party and State, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
