The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province is coordinating with relevant units to implement a plan to restore and embellish the Dr. A. Yersin Tomb in Suoi Cat commune, Cam Lam district, Khanh Hoa province, promoting the value of this relic into a tourist destination.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, said: The Department has just chaired and coordinated with the People's Committee of Cam Lam district, the Association of Dr. A. Yersin admirers and related units to meet to agree on a plan to restore and promote the value of the Dr. A. Yersin Tomb relic.
At the meeting, the representative of the Association of Admirers of Doctor A. Yersin said that since the Tomb of Doctor A. Yersin was recognized as a National Monument in 1990, the road leading to this area has not been invested in or upgraded, causing inconvenience to visitors. Therefore, the Association recommended that the relevant authorities quickly build a road leading to the relic site.
The Association representative also proposed to renovate and embellish the landscape of the relic, design a waiting area for visitors to rest when visiting the tomb; plant more trees, the same types of trees that Dr. Yersin used to plant; build a parking lot; arrange QR codes at the relic site so that people and tourists can easily look up information, learn and feel more fully about the doctor.
The representative of the Department of Culture and Information of Cam Lam district also stated that, in addition to investing in the road to the relic, it is necessary to renovate and refurbish the items in area 1 of this relic such as: Tombs, shrines, rest stops, etc.
A representative of Suoi Cat commune, Cam Lam district said: It is necessary to redesign the entrance area because the current signposts are no longer correct in content; at the same time, it is proposed to arrange a water supply pipe to this area next to the planned construction route to connect the entire project in the future.

After listening to the opinions, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, acknowledged and said: Currently, the Department is completing the procedures to submit to the Provincial People's Committee to implement the project to build a road (12m wide) from the roundabout of the overpass on National Highway 1 to the relic site.
The road to the tomb is located within the land area under the management of the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang, so the relevant parties are also working on it. This project also arranges to build a parking lot for people and tourists when visiting the tomb of Dr. A. Yersin.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, the 4-hectare relic site is divided into two areas, in which the area on the top of the hill (area 1) has the tomb of doctor A. Yersin, the shrine of scientist Yersin, ancient trees around the tomb... about 300m2 wide is a strictly protected area, will only be renovated, embellished to keep the original state, no investment or construction of any items will be carried out. The remaining area (area 2) is allowed to be invested in for the purpose of preserving and promoting the value of the heritage. In fact, this area has not been properly preserved and embellished in the past, and its value has not been fully promoted.
The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province assigned the Center for Monument Conservation to coordinate with specialized units under the Department to seriously synthesize, analyze, and absorb comments to promptly implement the project of restoring and embellishing the monument. At the same time, it is recommended not to change the current status of area 1, and to restore it in the spirit of "extreme caution". In area 2, research is being done to plan a complex of parking lots and rest stops. Regarding the road to the tomb, Mr. Nhuan said that the functional sector is trying to implement it in 2024, striving to complete it in 2025.

Previously, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Official Dispatch No. 4099/BVHTTDL-DSVH to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province regarding the restoration of the Tomb of Doctor A. Yersin in Khanh Hoa province. Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism welcomed the contribution of funds to the restoration of the Tomb and the construction of a new Memorial House of Doctor A. Yersin by Lac Hong Investment Joint Stock Company to create conditions to promote the value of this relic. At the same time, it is considered that the restoration and restoration of this relic is necessary to express the gratitude of today's generation to the ancestors who have made many contributions to the country and to honor the contributions of the ancestors.
However, there are many different opinions surrounding this issue, including disagreement on some items of the restoration and embellishment of the A. Yersin Tomb. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to report to the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to direct the provincial authorities to work with the Association of Dr. A. Yersin Admirers and the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute to agree on a plan to restore the items of the construction at the A. Yersin Tomb, then submit to the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for consideration of current regulations.
Mr. Le Huu Hoang, Permanent Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee affirmed: The preservation and promotion of the value of the Dr. Yersin Tomb relic is necessary; at the same time, Khanh Hoa province is developing this place into a tourist destination to welcome domestic and international tourists to learn about the contributions that Alexandre Yersin has made to humanity.
