The Unknown Soldier Monument is located on the Kremlin wall in Red Square. In 1966, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the defeat of the Nazi army that surrounded Moscow in 1941, the remains of an unidentified Red Army soldier who died in this bloody battle (on the Leningrad highway, 41km from the center of Moscow) were brought back to be buried under the Kremlin wall.
