(NLDO)- General Secretary To Lam and leaders of several ministries, sectors and localities witnessed the announcement ceremony of Vietjet Air's direct flight route from Singapore to Phu Quoc.


According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, during his official visit to the Republic of Singapore from March 11 to 13, on the afternoon of March 11, General Secretary To Lam and leaders of several ministries, sectors and localities witnessed the announcement ceremony of the Singapore-Phu Quoc direct flight route, the signing of an agreement to finance the purchase of aircraft worth 300 million USD with Carlyle Aviation Partners, and the signing of a cooperation agreement with Satair Company, marking a new step forward in Vietnam-Singapore cooperation, enhancing connectivity and sustainable development between the two countries.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of Vietjet Air's Board of Directors, emphasized that Vietjet Air is not only an airline but also promotes economic trade, investment, education and culture. Currently, Vietjet Air operates more than 115 aircraft, serving more than 230 million passengers.

This event continues the commitment to cooperate with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), affirming Vietjet Air's role in economic development associated with the traditional cultural values of each country and nation.

Vietjet Air and its Singaporean partners, with annual sales of billions of dollars, are promoting cooperation in finance, trade and innovation, towards a sustainable future and development together.

On this occasion, Vietjet Air and Carlyle Aviation Partners signed a $300 million financing agreement to support the purchase of aircraft for delivery in the 2025-2026 period.

This agreement is a step forward in Vietjet Air's plan to develop a modern fleet and fulfill its order for more than 400 new aircraft.

In addition, Vietjet Air and Satair Company under Airbus Group also signed a cooperation contract on the use of IMS integrated supplies, a comprehensive supply solution for Vietjet's entire Airbus A320 and A330 fleet.

The new Phu Quoc-Singapore route will open on May 30, with four flights per week, a total of 78 flights per week between Vietnam and Singapore, expected to serve more than half a million passengers per year.

This is the fourth flight route connecting Singapore with Vietnam, after Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang. The Singapore-Phu Quoc route not only promotes tourism, but also strengthens economic, trade and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
