During the visit, General Secretary To Lam attended the welcoming ceremony for the Heads of Delegations and their Wives at the Kremlin; participated in the joint flower-laying ceremony of the Heads of Delegations and their Wives at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier; attended the official reception of Russian President Vladimir Putin; and attended the 80th Anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War at Red Square, demonstrating Vietnam's respect and honor for the enormous contributions and sacrifices of the former Soviet Union and the present-day Russian Federation in the great victory against fascism, firmly protecting world peace.

At this year's parade, for the first time, the Vietnam People's Army sent a delegation of 86 soldiers and officers to participate in the parade at Red Square, contributing to affirming the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, demonstrating Vietnam's responsibility in building and maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative and developing environment; enhancing the image, position and mettle of the Vietnam People's Army.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam had bilateral meetings with senior leaders of several countries: First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba, Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel; General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping; President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev; President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro; President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. At the meetings, senior leaders of the countries congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day and affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of countries in the Southeast Asian region.

Also during the visit, General Secretary To Lam held talks with Russian President V. Putin, witnessed the ceremony of handing over cooperation documents, spoke to the press; met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vyacheslav Volodin; Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev; met Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov; met with Russian dignitaries, intellectuals and experts who have supported and helped Vietnam through the periods; met and spoke at the Russian Presidential Academy; attended the Vietnam - Russian Federation Business Forum; received a number of business leaders in the Russian Federation; attended and pressed the button to resume the direct flight between Hanoi - Moscow of Vietnam Airlines, the inauguration ceremony of the TH fresh milk processing factory in Kaluga province, witnessed the handover of memorandums of understanding on cooperation with partners of the Russian Federation...

During the meetings, in an atmosphere of openness, sincerity and mutual trust, the two sides discussed areas of bilateral cooperation as well as shared views on regional and international issues of concern; affirmed that the leaders of Vietnam and the Russian Federation always cherish the long-standing traditional friendship between the two countries, which has been tested by time and is constantly being consolidated and developed towards the long-term interests of the people of the two countries, for the common prosperity of the two nations, for peace and development in the region and the world. On this occasion, the two sides adopted a Joint Statement on the main orientations in the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new period.

During the visit, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, laid flowers at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument (Ho Chi Minh Square) and laid flowers at the memorial stele of General Secretary Le Duan (Le Duan Square), Moscow, Russia.

The official visit to the Russian Federation and attendance at the 80th Anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War by General Secretary To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation took place at a historic, highly symbolic and meaningful time when the two countries are together celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. At the same time, each country also celebrated important historical milestones: Russia celebrated the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 / May 9, 2025); Vietnam celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 / April 30, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2, 1945 / September 2, 2025).

The visit also shows that Vietnam wishes to further strengthen political trust between the two countries, identify orientations to bring the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia to new heights, consolidate cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and major political parties in Russia; affirm that Vietnam is a loyal and devoted friend to traditional friendly countries, and is responsible to the international community; create more important driving forces to bring the country into a new era, realize the set development goals, thereby actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region as well as in the world.
