(HG) - Currently, the pig herd in the province is estimated at 144,801 head, an increase of 1,481 head compared to the same period last year, reaching 97.27% of the 2023 annual plan of 148,861 head. The reason for the increase in the total pig herd in the area is due to the well-controlled disease situation, strict management of disease prevention and control, small-scale farmers restocking their herds, and large-scale farms continuing production, restocking, and expanding their barns. The provincial authorities have consistently directed the restocking of pigs at the right time to suit the local situation, as well as reviewing and identifying large-scale livestock facilities that ensure biosecurity in livestock farming. As a result, the total herd is gradually recovering, contributing to an increase in both quantity and production.
Disinfection and sterilization of livestock barns and facilities are carried out regularly.
Regarding poultry, the estimated number is 4.449 million birds, an increase of 106,990 compared to the same period last year, reaching 98.74% of the annual plan. Overall, the poultry population in the province is currently stable.
In addition, during June, veterinary forces in the province regularly carried out vaccinations against avian influenza and other common diseases in livestock and poultry. They also disinfected and sterilized vehicles and ships transporting animals and animal products; and monitored hygiene, disinfection, and sterilization at livestock and poultry slaughterhouses and concentrated livestock and poultry farms throughout the province.
