Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Mr. Bui Thanh Son emphasized that Ms. Audrey Azoulay is a close friend of Vietnam, who has made many practical contributions to the protection and promotion of Vietnamese cultural heritages to the world and promoted cooperation between Vietnam and UNESCO in many strategic areas. The medal shows the respect of the Vietnamese diplomatic sector for Ms. Audrey Azoulay's efforts in spreading global cultural and intellectual values, thereby contributing to strengthening the Vietnam - UNESCO strategic partnership.

Expressing her honor at receiving this noble award, Ms. Audrey Azoulay affirmed her commitment to continue accompanying Vietnam in preserving, promoting and disseminating the values of heritage, knowledge and human creativity. She emphasized that Vietnam is a reliable and typical partner in multilateral cooperation with UNESCO, with many specific results in cultural preservation, sustainable development and community support.
Earlier, during the meeting, Mr. Bui Thanh Son thanked the UNESCO Director-General for his attention and contributions to Vietnam during the past two terms. He also affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to multilateral cooperation and the role of UNESCO. Vietnam will continue to actively participate in key management mechanisms, proactively contribute to efforts to promote dialogue, solidarity and international cooperation, and promote the role of culture in the United Nations' post-2030 development agenda.
Ms. Audrey Azoulay expressed her impression of meeting General Secretary To Lam during this visit, affirming her desire to further strengthen the strategic partnership with Vietnam. She welcomed Vietnam's development strategy with four breakthrough pillars in the new era and pledged that UNESCO will closely accompany Vietnam in policy advice, human resource training, promoting digital transformation and innovation.

The UNESCO Director General also agreed with Vietnam's proposal for cooperation in preserving and registering world heritages, especially supporting the restoration of Kinh Thien Palace in Thang Long Imperial Citadel, promoting the registration of the Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac, Co Loa Citadel, Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site, Con Moong Cave, Cu Chi Tunnels...
UNESCO pledged to support Vietnam in establishing a regional training center on artificial intelligence (AI), promote cooperation between Vietnamese universities and UNESCO in data science, and expand public-private initiatives in the high-tech sector.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides affirmed to continue to strengthen close cooperation and effectively promote joint programs for an open education, diverse culture and science for peace and sustainable development.
