The above activity is part of a coordination plan between the Ministry of Public Security , the Ministry of Construction and the Hanoi People's Committee to modernize urban transport infrastructure and improve passenger experience.
Hanoi Metro has just announced the implementation of phase 2 of testing electronic identification, authentication and biometric recognition solutions on urban railway line No. 2A - Cat Linh - Ha Dong, implemented according to Plan No. 428/KH-BCA-BXD-UBNDHN dated July 16, 2025 of the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Construction and Hanoi People's Committee.

Previously, phase 1 was implemented from September 20 to September 30, 2025, Hanoi Metro has deployed a pilot at 12 stations, over 65 ticket gates, with diverse forms: using chip-embedded citizen identification cards (CCCD), QR codes on mobile applications, NFC and EMV card payments. The group of passengers participating includes the elderly who are exempt from tickets when using chip-embedded CCCDs, along with regular passengers using single or daily tickets.
According to Hanoi Metro representatives, the first phase has received the attention and active participation of the people, and has recorded many practical suggestions to perfect the technology and operating procedures.
Moving to phase 2, taking place from October 5 to October 15, 2025, Hanoi Metro continues to expand the trial with the same scope and form as the first phase, but with two new points: deploying weekly tickets on the mobile application "Hanoi Metro" and expanding the use of CCCD/CCCD with chip for passengers under 60 years old. This expansion aims to digitize the entire ticket purchase process, control of entry and exit to the station and payment, helping passengers experience more conveniently and quickly.
During the trial period, all passengers using Line 2A can register directly at the Information Desk at the stations to participate in the program, said a representative of Hanoi Metro. Participants will receive gifts from partners including Visa, VietinBank and MoMo e-Wallet, to encourage new technology experiences.
Hanoi Metro affirms that the application of biometric recognition and electronic identification solutions not only contributes to enhancing safety and security of passenger information, but also aims to build a smart, environmentally friendly public transport system.
The unit also hopes to continue receiving feedback and suggestions from people to further improve the features, moving towards officially deploying them synchronously on the entire route in the coming time, affirming Hanoi Metro's commitment to applying modern technology, improving service quality and travel experience of the capital's people.
