Vietnam - Laos relations: a solid foundation for today's and future generations
In his commemorative speech, President Luong Cuong sent warm congratulations to the leaders of the Party, State and people of the Lao ethnic groups, and reviewed important historical milestones of the Lao revolution.
He stated: Under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao people united, fought persistently and bravely and achieved glorious victories. On October 12, 1945, the Lao Itsala Government was established. On December 2, 1975, the Lao People's Democratic Republic was born. This was a great event, opening an era of independence and freedom for the Lao people. The Lao People's Revolutionary Party became the ruling party, correctly and clearly defining the path and setting out the goals, tasks and development directions of Laos in the new period.

The President affirmed that the past 50 years have been a brilliant and glorious historical journey of the Lao people; a heroic journey, full of faith and perseverance on the chosen path, believing in the bright future of the country. Under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Laos has transformed strongly, united, and resiliently overcome all difficulties and challenges, achieving many great and outstanding achievements in all fields; socio-political stability; national defense and security have been maintained; people's lives have been increasingly improved, and per capita income has increased nearly 20 times in the past 40 years. Foreign relations have been increasingly expanded, and the prestige and position of the Lao People's Democratic Republic have been constantly enhanced in the international arena.
On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the President warmly congratulated Laos on its historic achievements in 50 years of construction and development.
Also on this special occasion, President Luong Cuong paid tribute to President Kaysone Phomvihane - founder of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, a close and loyal friend of Vietnam. "The life of President Kaysone Phomvihane is a shining symbol of patriotism, strategic wisdom, and sacrifice for the people. Although he has passed away, the thoughts, vision, and correct guidelines of President Kaysone Phomvihane will forever be a precious legacy, a compass for the cause of building and developing Laos in the new era," the President emphasized.

The President reaffirmed that the special Vietnam-Laos relationship is a priceless asset directly founded by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, and painstakingly built, preserved and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries with sweat, effort, intelligence and even blood. It is a "unique" relationship in world history, a solid foundation for present and future generations to continue writing beautiful stories about the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
He reiterated President Kaysone Phomvihane's teachings on preserving and nurturing the Vietnam-Laos solidarity and affirmed that this ideology still holds true; it is necessary to especially respect and express gratitude for the contributions of generations of leaders and people of the two countries who have devoted and sacrificed for peace, independence and freedom today.
Reviewing the advice of President Ho Chi Minh and President Souphanouvong on the Vietnam-Laos relationship, President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam is always proud to have a loyal, steadfast friend with the same aspirations. He emphasized that every victory of the Vietnamese revolution in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification as well as in the current construction and development is associated with the special solidarity, with the spirit of "sharing the same fate", "sharing the same rice grain, sharing the same vegetable stalk", "sharing the same joys and sorrows" of the Lao people.
The President affirmed that Vietnam strongly and comprehensively supports Laos' cause of innovation, construction and development; and will do everything possible to consolidate and develop the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. He quoted the words of late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: No matter how the world changes, we are determined to work together to preserve and promote the special, loyal and steadfast Vietnam-Laos relationship in accordance with the wish of President Kaysone Phomvihane: "Mountains may wear away, rivers may dry up, but the Vietnam-Laos friendship will forever be more lasting than mountains and rivers."
Regarding cooperation in recent times, the President stated that despite the rapid, complicated and unpredictable developments in the world and the region, the implementation of the Congress Resolution of each Party continued to achieve important results. The contents of the agreements between the two Parties and the two countries were actively coordinated and implemented by all levels and sectors of the two sides, achieving practical results, contributing to the development of each country; consolidating and enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Laos and Vietnam, which has increasingly developed and deepened in all fields.
At the end of his speech, the President sent his best wishes to the Party, State and people of Laos, under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, headed by General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, to continue to gain even greater victories in the cause of national construction and defense; and to successfully organize the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.

Reviewing the historical milestones of the birth of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh pointed out that the establishment of the Indochinese Communist Party in 1930 and the establishment of the Ai Lao Regional Party in 1934 created the foundation for the Lao revolutionary movement. From the victory in 1945, to the Geneva Agreement in 1954 and the birth of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party in 1955, the Lao people gradually regained independence and sovereignty and the milestone of the birth of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on December 2, 1975 opened a new era, affirming the complete victory of the national democratic revolution.
The Ambassador emphasized that in 50 years of nation building, especially 40 years of renovation, Laos has achieved many great and comprehensive achievements in all fields; the leadership role of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party continues to be consolidated; mass mobilization work has been widely deployed, associated with movements to reduce poverty, build model families, and develop rural areas, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc; the system of state agencies has been improved; laws have been synchronously perfected, towards building a people's democratic rule-of-law state. The socio-political situation has remained stable; independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity have been ensured; the defense and security sectors have continued to be strongly built. Cooperation with countries in the region and internationally has been expanded, and relations with strategic friends have reached new heights.
Referring to the Laos-Vietnam relationship, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh emphasized that over the past 50 years, despite the complicated changes in the regional and world situation, the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, built and nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, has been continued to be promoted by generations of leaders, revolutionaries and people of the two countries. Today, this relationship has become a valuable asset of the two peoples, a law of existence and development, and a decisive factor in all victories of each country's revolution.
The Ambassador expressed his deep gratitude for the wholehearted and selfless assistance of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Lao People's Democratic Republic during the struggle for national liberation as well as in the current national construction.
Congratulating Vietnam on its outstanding achievements after nearly 40 years of renovation, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh pledged that Laos will continue to work with Vietnam to preserve and promote the special Laos-Vietnam relationship "forever green, forever sustainable".
