
The coaching staff of the Vietnamese fencing team said that the training group includes 6 athletes, including: Ngo Thi Huong, Phung Thi Khanh Linh, Pham Thi Thu Hoai, Le Van Bang, Nguyen Xuan Loi and Nguyen Van Quyet. This is the key group of athletes in the saber event, who were awarded a place to participate in the 33rd SEA Games. Among them, athletes Nguyen Xuan Loi and Nguyen Van Quyet are experienced and have participated in many previous SEA Games.
The training program for swordsmen will last 10 days. After the training, the players will return to Vietnam and then go to Thailand to participate in the 33rd SEA Games.
The fencing event of the 33rd SEA Games is scheduled to start on December 16. Therefore, the athletes will have enough time to train and be ready to compete in Thailand.
Two years ago, the Vietnamese fencing team won four gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games. Of which, the sabre fencers brought home two gold medals in the men's and women's team events.
The goal of the Vietnamese Fencing Team heading to SEA Games 33 is to defend the gold medals they won at SEA Games 32. According to the registration, the Fencing Team has 24 athletes participating in SEA Games 33.
