Vietnamese and Lao children celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival at Quang Tri border

Recently, at Bich La Dong village (Lao Bao commune, Quang Tri province), Lao Bao International Border Gate Border Guard Station coordinated with Lao Bao Commune People's Committee to organize the program "Vietnamese - Lao children enjoy the full moon festival" for children in the border area of ​​the two countries.

Since early afternoon, hundreds of children from Lao Bao commune (Vietnam) and Ka Tup - Ma Hat, Den Sa Van villages (Se Pon district, Savannakhet province, Laos) have been present at the venue. The festival space is decorated with flags, flowers, and colorful lanterns, creating an exciting and cohesive atmosphere.

The program opened with a vibrant Lion Dance, followed by an art performance combining traditional Vietnamese and Lao dances, creating a highlight of cultural exchange. The festive atmosphere was even more bustling with the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern parade and many folk games such as tug of war, sack jumping, blindfolded pot smashing... attracting a large number of children and people to participate. The traditional Mid-Autumn Festival tray with moon cakes, fruits... was also elaborately arranged.

At the program, the Organizing Committee awarded 800 gifts, 30 scholarships and 10 bicycles worth 20 million VND to students in difficult circumstances. In addition, Den Sa Van Primary School (Laos) was given a sound system worth 8 million VND; Ka Tup - Ma Hat Primary School (Laos) was given a multi-function printer worth 6 million VND. The total value of the gifts was about 100 million VND. The Se Pon district government also presented gifts worth 8 million VND to students of Tan Thanh Primary and Secondary School and Tan Thanh Kindergarten (Vietnam).

Speaking at the program, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Ho Le Luan, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Lao Bao International Border Gate Border Guard Station, emphasized: "The Mid-Autumn Festival is a bridge for the young generations of the two countries to further connect and foster the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos". Mr. Sa Van Xay A Say, Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Sepon District expressed: "This will be an unforgettable memory in the childhood of our children, demonstrating the close and loyal affection of the people of both sides".

Previously, on the evening of October 2, the program "Border - Full Moon Festival" was also held in Huong Lap commune (Quang Tri province), gathering nearly 1,200 children in the border area, including 200 students and teachers from Avia Primary School and La Co Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Se Pon district, Savannakhet province, Laos). The children enjoyed the festival together under the full moon with many performances, lion and dragon dances, folk games and received meaningful gifts.

The highlight was the “Border Lesson” right at the 591st marker, helping the children learn more about the history, geography and special tradition of solidarity between Vietnam and Laos. The organizing committee also presented more than 1,300 gifts, 18 bicycles and many other prizes with a total value of over 400 million VND.

The program not only brought joy to the children, but also demonstrated the care and sharing of the Provincial Border Guard, local authorities, charitable organizations and individuals and the whole society in taking care of their material and spiritual lives, encouraging border children to overcome difficulties and strive to study.

On this occasion, the Party Committee and Command of the Quang Tri Border Guard directed border posts along the border to simultaneously organize the Mid-Autumn Festival and give gifts to Vietnamese and Lao children, especially those in difficult circumstances, thereby promoting the spirit of humanity and sharing.
