During the 2020-2025 term, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Gia Lai province has played the role of a bridge of friendship between Gia Lai province and the southern provinces of Laos. The Association has mobilized and awarded 275 scholarships to students from four southern provinces of Laos to study at universities and colleges in the province.
In addition, the Association coordinated with the Provincial Youth Union to carry out many activities to support Lao students studying abroad; organized a trade cooperation conference between the Young Entrepreneurs Association of the two provinces; deployed a volunteer group in Champasak province with activities such as donating office equipment, 50 gifts to students and repainting tables and chairs at a primary school with a total cost of 50 million VND.
The Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Gia Lai province, term IV, consisting of 15 members. Mr. Tran Minh Son was elected as Chairman of the Association.

In the 2025-2030 term, the Association will continue to thoroughly grasp the foreign policies of the two Parties and two States; link the Association's activities with the cooperation program between Gia Lai and the southern Lao provinces; build a strong and effective Association organization.
The Association sets out key tasks such as: promoting propaganda on people-to-people diplomacy; coordinating the organization of investment promotion seminars in Southern Laos; enhancing exchanges and meetings to improve the quality of training for Lao students studying abroad; expanding membership in businesses and schools and mobilizing resources to support scholarships and humanitarian activities for Lao students; organizing delegations to exchange experiences with Lao localities...
Speaking at the Congress, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Rah Lan Chung suggested that the Gia Lai Province Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association should continue to improve the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation, focusing on innovating the content and methods of operation in a practical direction, associated with the socio-economic development tasks of the province.

Besides, the Association needs to promote extensive propaganda among cadres, members and people, especially the young generation, about the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos that has been cultivated by the leaders of the two Parties and two States over many generations.
At the same time, continue to strengthen cultural exchanges, support Lao students studying in the province; proactively coordinate with departments, branches, localities and businesses to promote economic, trade, investment and tourism cooperation with the southern Lao provinces; build more specific cooperation programs and projects...
In recent times, Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces (before the merger) have always maintained, consolidated and promoted the friendly relationship and cooperation for development with the four southern Lao provinces of Attapeu, Champasak, Sekong and Salavan. The two sides regularly organize exchange activities, visits and congratulations to each other on the occasion of holidays and New Year of the two countries. The two provinces have signed many cooperation phases with comprehensive cooperation content in many fields.
