As a founding member of BRICS, Brazil's economy is the largest in Latin America and the 10th largest in the world. Brazil promotes the integration of South American countries within the framework of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), the Organization of American States (OAS), and strengthens BRICS cooperation. Brazil also plays an active role in the United Nations, the WTO, the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), the Group of 77, the G20, and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was born in 1945, was elected President of Brazil for the first term in October 2002 and has served 3 terms so far (January 2003 to January 2007), (January 2007 to December 2010), (January 2023 to January 2027).

President Lula da Silva admires and has deep affection for Vietnam (he calls himself a member of the "Vietnam Generation"). During his terms as President, he has focused on promoting cooperation with Vietnam in many areas of economics, trade, science and technology, renewable energy, education and training; establishing a Comprehensive Partnership with Vietnam (2007) and upgrading the relationship to a Strategic Partnership (11-2024).
