President Donald Trump announced that the United States and Vietnam have reached a trade agreement.

At 9:25 p.m. on July 2 (Hanoi time), US President Donald Trump announced on the social network Truth Social: "I have just reached a trade agreement with Vietnam. Details will be announced later."

In another post on Truth Social, Mr. Donald Trump shared: "I am deeply honored to announce that I have just reached a trade agreement with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam after speaking with General Secretary To Lam ."

Mr. Donald Trump assessed that this will be a major cooperation agreement between Vietnam and the United States.

Earlier, at 8:00 p.m. the same day, General Secretary To Lam had a phone call with President Donald Trump about Vietnam-US relations and negotiations on reciprocal taxes between the two countries.

General Secretary To Lam and President Donald Trump welcomed the two countries' negotiating delegations' agreement on the Vietnam-US Joint Statement on the Framework for a Reciprocal, Fair and Balanced Trade Agreement.
