President Joe Biden promotes Vietnam-US relations at UN meeting

"This is a testament to how countries can overcome the past, from adversaries to partners to solve challenges and heal wounds," according to the head of the White House.

Drawing on this experience, President Biden affirmed that the US is ready to cooperate with countries to resolve disputes. The US is also committed to promoting multilateralism to address global challenges.

This high-level debate of the United Nations General Assembly has the theme "Rebuilding trust and promoting global solidarity: Strengthening action on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals towards peace , prosperity, progress and sustainability for all".

The opening session was attended by more than 150 heads of state and government , along with representatives of many countries and international organizations.

The Vietnamese high-ranking delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will participate in the High-Level Meetings with many important activities to convey the consistent policy of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam to international friends about a peaceful, cooperative and integrated Vietnam, bringing Vietnam's relations with the United Nations and other countries to a new height.

Speaking at the opening session, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres assessed that the world is on the brink of a rift in trade relations and the international economic and financial system, with an East-West divide between developed and developing countries.

Meanwhile, the international community is facing a series of challenges, especially climate change - rising sea levels, increasing geopolitical tensions, and many unresolved hotspots.

The UN Secretary-General said that countries need to strengthen dialogue, promote multilateralism and reform the international governance system, especially international economic and financial institutions and the United Nations. This is to better meet the requirements of sustainable development.

In it, the UN Secretary-General emphasized the priority of climate change and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) and new forms of technology.
