The work of disseminating information, educating, and mobilizing the public to study the Military Service Law and the Law on the People's Police has been effectively organized by wards and communes, gradually becoming more systematic. The close coordination between departments, organizations, agencies, and units has positively impacted the local recruitment movement. In addition, the Military Service Councils at all levels are consistently strengthened with the correct and complete composition as prescribed. The city's health examination council is established with the correct specialties, with a team of responsible, capable, and professionally qualified doctors and medical staff. Members of the city's Military Service Council closely coordinate with agencies, departments, and organizations to actively implement the dissemination and education of the Military Service Law and the Law on the People's Police; manage the pool of eligible recruits, ensuring that the review, evaluation, and health examinations are conducted according to regulations.

In carrying out the steps of selecting and calling citizens for military service; fulfilling the obligation to participate in the People's Public Security Force, the Standing Committee of the City's Military Service Council proactively monitors the pool of citizens within the age range for military service registration. The total number of male citizens turning 17 years old this year accounts for 0.7% of the population, achieving 100% registration. Based on monitoring the pool of resources ready for military service, the ward and commune military service councils effectively conduct preliminary health screenings for citizens; manage the medical history of citizens and their families, and review the self-declaration of military service health forms submitted by citizens during registration.

Summary of the recruitment and conscription of citizens into the military in 2025

After the list is approved by the City Military Service Council and the City People's Committee Chairman issues a decision, the standing committee of the ward/commune Military Service Council is responsible for announcing the list on the radio and publicly posting it at the ward/commune People's Committee headquarters and hamlet/village offices as prescribed. The city organized 36 consultation points, with approximately 1,415 participants, ensuring transparency, democracy, and consensus among the people. Based on the preparatory steps, the City Military Service Council issued the conscription orders 15 days in advance as stipulated by law. By 2025, Chau Doc City aims to achieve 100% of its conscription target.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quoc Dung (Permanent Vice Chairman of the Military Service Council, Commander of the Chau Doc City Military Command) informed: "To continue building on the achievements and overcome difficulties and limitations, the city's Military Service Council will select and call citizens to enlist in the People's Public Security Force from the age of 18 to 25. For citizens with college or university degrees (who have been granted a temporary deferment from military service during their studies), recruitment will continue until the age of 27, provided they have permanent residence in the city."

Furthermore, depending on the actual conditions, the ward/commune military service council advises the Party Committee and People's Committee at the same level to plan the selection and recruitment of Party members who are included in the planning, with a view to utilizing them after their discharge from military service, meeting the targets and requirements in building a reserve mobilization unit. The local Party Committee and government always pay attention to leading and directing the recruitment work, with military and police agencies acting as the core, closely advising the chairmen of the ward/commune People's Committees to prepare well the resources for selecting and recruiting citizens for military service.

It is projected that the 2026 military recruitment quota for the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security will increase by 5% compared to 2025. Priority will be given to recruiting citizens who have graduated from vocational schools, colleges, and universities that the military needs, such as: medicine, information technology, driving, automobile repair, electricians, mechanics, etc., with a rate of 5% or more of the recruitment quota.
