Leveraging the strength of the entire population in protecting the national border, in recent years, the government and mass organizations of Ba Chúc commune have closely coordinated with the Lạc Quới Border Guard Station to promote propaganda and mobilize the people to raise their awareness of law compliance and actively participate in protecting the border and boundary markers. Recently, the "Farmers' Association Self-Management Model for Border and Boundary Markers" with 40 members was established through the coordinated efforts of these units. Although it has only been in operation for over a month, the model has initially proven effective, receiving positive support and participation from members and local farmers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, a member participating in the model, shared: “Despite the difficulties in travel and weather conditions, members with agricultural land in the border area always uphold the spirit of staying rooted in the land, the border, and the locality. We regularly cooperate with officers and soldiers to participate in patrols and protect the border and boundary markers, contributing to maintaining security and order in the border area.”
According to Mr. Toan, for farmers in the border areas, balancing agricultural production and family economic development with contributing to the protection of national sovereignty is not only a responsibility but also a sacred duty. It is this spirit of solidarity, sense of responsibility, and love for their homeland that motivates farmers to work together to maintain national peace.
The practical actions of cadres, members, and farmers have contributed to strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people, building an increasingly strong border defense system based on the people's support. The image of hardworking farmers in border areas, working day and night alongside border guards to protect territorial sovereignty, has become a beautiful symbol of patriotism in the border regions.
According to Vo Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Ba Chuc Commune Farmers' Association, one of the greatest meanings of the "living border markers" is that they help the locality maintain political security, order, and social safety in the border area. When association members and farmers directly participate in patrolling, clearing the border, protecting the border markers, and coordinating with border guards to monitor the local situation, it contributes to the early detection of violations of the law, illegal entry and exit, or activities that disrupt security and order. This helps the government reduce the pressure in managing the border area.
The "Farmers' Association for Self-Management of Border Areas and Boundary Markers" also serves as an important bridge in disseminating the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws to the people. Through meetings, members gain a better understanding of the National Border Law, crime prevention, maintaining security and order, and building a cultural life in residential areas. "In the future, the Farmers' Association of the commune will continue to expand this model and encourage more members to participate in self-management to contribute to firmly protecting national border security and sovereignty," Mr. Vo Van Tuan shared.
Assessing the role of members and farmers participating in the self-governance model for border areas and boundary markers, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Chuc commune, Vo Thanh Tuan, stated that members and farmers with land in border areas are the core force in coordinating the protection of national border security and sovereignty in the locality. Despite difficult living and production conditions, the people always demonstrate a sense of responsibility, actively staying on their land and along the border, regularly cooperating with the Lac Quoi Border Guard Post in patrolling and protecting the border and boundary markers.
Mr. Vo Thanh Tuan stated: “The direct participation of the people in the self-governance model not only contributes to maintaining political security, order, and social safety in border areas, but also enhances the awareness and responsibility of the community in the task of protecting national territorial sovereignty. At the same time, this is also an important foundation for building an increasingly solid all-people border defense posture, contributing to local socio -economic development while maintaining national defense and security in the frontline border areas.”
Besides their duty to protect the border, members and farmers actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, economic development, and mutual support for sustainable poverty reduction. These "living landmarks" in everyday life are contributing day and night to protecting national border sovereignty with a sense of responsibility, love for their homeland, and the indomitable will of Vietnamese farmers.
