Ho Chi Minh City announces 242 exam locations for 10th grade in three areas.

On the afternoon of May 14th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the list of 242 examination centers for the 10th grade entrance exam in 2026 across three regions.

Accordingly, candidates will be assigned to take the 10th grade entrance exam at one of 242 testing locations, spread across three regions. These include 16 locations for specialized 10th grade exams and 226 locations for regular 10th grade exams. The details are as follows:

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced that this year, more than 151,000 ninth-grade students registered to take the entrance exam for public high schools. Meanwhile, the projected number of ninth-grade graduates for the 2025-2026 school year is 169,079. This means that more than 17,000 students did not register to take the public high school entrance exam.

For the 2026-2027 school year, high schools in Ho Chi Minh City will recruit 118,955 students. Based on the number of registered candidates, Ho Chi Minh City will have over 78% of students completing lower secondary school admitted to public high schools (instead of only 70.35% as initially projected).

Reportedly, the 2026 10th grade entrance exam, the first entrance exam after Ho Chi Minh City's merger, will take place on June 1st and 2nd.

Candidates will take three exams: mathematics, literature, and a foreign language. Mathematics and literature exams will each last 120 minutes, while the foreign language exam will last 90 minutes.

Candidates applying for specialized/integrated 10th-grade classes will take an additional specialized/integrated exam, with a time limit of 150 minutes.

Candidates can register for a maximum of 8 preferences for 10th grade, including 3 preferences for regular 10th grade classes, 3 preferences for integrated 10th grade classes, and 2 preferences for specialized 10th grade classes.
