On the morning of May 23rd, the Center for Application of Advanced Science and Technology (under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology) organized a conference to share solutions for improving the productivity, quality, and efficiency of teaching and learning management in Ho Chi Minh City.
This is one of many networking activities within the "Searching for Innovative Solutions in the Public Sector 2024 - Saigon Govtech Challenge 2024" (Gov.Star 2024) competition organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology.
Public sector agencies and units can present their problems to the innovation and startup community, allowing the community to propose solutions that address these problems, through the Gov.Star 2024 competition.
At the conference on the morning of May 23rd, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, outlined three major challenges that the city's education sector hopes to address with technological solutions from the innovative startup community.
Firstly , there is the issue of solutions for the management system. Mr. Minh stated that Ho Chi Minh City currently has over 200 high schools, over 280 junior high schools, 500 primary schools, and approximately 1,800 kindergens and preschools.
Due to the enormous volume, compiling reports and statistics on related content when implementing projects, plans, and tasks presents significant challenges, requiring considerable effort and time.
The Ho Chi Minh City education sector is seeking a technological solution that can easily aggregate and retrieve data, as well as create a data sharing system for educational purposes across the city.
Secondly , the assignment concerns solutions for open mass online courses, fulfilling the task of building a learning society assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City's education sector is seeking a technological solution for an online learning platform that offers diverse content for learners of all ages, especially for workers wishing to change careers. The content of the technology platform's courses could be integrated with universities and colleges.
Thirdly , there is the "ordering" for a virtual assistant technology solution to support citizens in administrative reform. Mr. Minh stated that there is currently a huge demand for information about education among people in Ho Chi Minh City. The Ho Chi Minh City education sector wants a platform that can answer people's questions and concerns online.
For example, parents looking for a high school with an integrated English program, or a computer training center that meets international standards, can find clear and detailed answers on this technology platform.

More technological solutions are needed for the public sector.
The "Gov.Star 2024" (Searching for Innovative Solutions in the Public Sector 2024) competition is accepting proposals from individuals, groups of individuals, businesses, and organizations with innovative solutions and models that have the potential to be transferred and applied to state management agencies, schools, and hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City.
Individuals and organizations with winning solutions will receive an incubation package in accordance with Resolution No. 20/2023/NQ-HĐND dated November 11, 2023, worth 80 million VND per project, including 30 million VND for labor costs and 50 million VND for other expenses.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, believes that the challenges facing the public sector will provide many valuable examples for the innovative startup community.
By participating in Gov.Star, in addition to receiving incubation packages, individuals and organizations will be connected with health, education, and training agencies, district and city People's Committees, Thu Duc City People's Committees, and ward and commune People's Committees to survey, apply, and test their products and solutions within the project.
Applications for the Gov.Star 2024 competition must be submitted online via email to govstar.dosthcmc@gmail.com before June 15, 2024.
