The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just requested road management units, businesses, wards, communes, and special zones to urgently review, make a list, and relocate all parking lots out of the road infrastructure protection area before October 30.

At the same time, coordinate with traffic police, fire police and local authorities to prevent and thoroughly handle the situation of using under-bridges as illegal parking lots or cases of using road infrastructure in violation of fire prevention and fighting regulations.

Functional units strictly inspect fire prevention and fighting work related to road infrastructure, resolutely suspend and strictly handle activities that do not ensure safety conditions.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction requested the People's Committees of wards, communes, special zones and related units to report the results of inspection and handling before September 13 for synthesis and reporting to the City People's Committee and the Ministry of Construction .

"This is an extremely urgent and important task, directly related to the safety of people's lives and property and the sustainability of road infrastructure works.

"The Department requires heads of departments, offices, affiliated units and chairmen of People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones to focus on leadership and direction, not to be negligent or perfunctory; to be responsible before the City People's Committee and before the law if violations occur," the official dispatch of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction emphasized.

According to Directive No. 6 of the Minister of Construction, currently, regulations on management and use of road safety corridors, road construction safety and measures to ensure fire prevention and fighting of road infrastructure have been fully regulated.

However, the management and use of road safety corridors in some localities in recent times still have shortcomings leading to risks of traffic safety and road construction safety. A typical example is the fire at the parking lot under Vinh Tuy bridge on August 30 in Hong Ha ward, Hanoi, which burned many cars and threatened to affect the structure of the construction.

The Minister of Construction requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct the review of all management and use of road safety corridors under their management; ensuring that roads and sidewalks are not used for purposes contrary to regulations.

Localities must promptly handle cases of encroachment, occupation, and illegal use of road safety corridors and road land in violation of the law; and take full responsibility if they exist in the management and use of road safety corridors and road land, threatening the safety of road works in the area.
