Ho Chi Minh City requires Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center to stop operations

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has announced that it requires the Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center to stop operating and return the tuition fees collected to students.

The announcement of the results of the surprise inspection of Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has the following content:

At 2:50 p.m. on May 9, 2025, an inspection team from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training made a surprise inspection at the Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center, located at 1232 Quang Trung, Ward 8, Go Vap District. At that time, the center had no active classes and only 1 employee. This employee said that he had just moved to work for 2 days and could not contact the center's manager.

However, the classrooms in the center are equipped with desks, chairs, books, and boards with classroom regulations posted; there is a tuition fee schedule for classes from May 1 to 31, 2025. Thus, the facility shows signs of operation.

In addition, the center's information board advertises Super Stars English programs, Cambridge exam preparation, 100% English summer boarding, and Q+ Summer Joy.

From the above results, the inspection team noted that Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center showed signs of administrative violations in the field of education as prescribed in Point b, Clause 5, Article 6 of Decree No. 04/2021/ND-CP dated January 22, 2021 of the Government: organizing educational activities without permission to operate. Meanwhile, this center did not ensure the conditions for permission to operate.

From the above violations, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requested that Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center immediately stop organizing educational activities, and return the money collected to students.

In addition, the Department Inspectorate is also handling the above violations of Than Dong 8 Foreign Language Center according to its authority.
