Ho Chi Minh City: 5-storey hotel fire, 6 people rescued by police

Kinhtedothi - On the afternoon of March 16, a fire suddenly broke out in a 5-story hotel in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City. Police arrived at the scene in time, put out the fire and rescued 6 trapped people, including two children.

According to initial information, at around 2:50 p.m., a fire broke out in a room on the second floor of a 100-square-meter hotel located on Hoang Huu Nam Street, Long Thanh My Ward, Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City).

When they discovered the fire, people used mini fire extinguishers to put it out but failed. The fire then flared up and spread, people in the hotel tried to run outside and called the authorities.

Upon receiving the fire alarm, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of Ho Chi Minh City Police quickly mobilized the Thu Duc City fire police team, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Team of Area 1 and Area 2 of PC07 to the scene to put out the fire.

At the scene, many fire trucks and nearly 30 police and firefighters wearing gas masks and oxygen tanks climbed over the roof of the house next door to approach the trapped people. At this time, many people were trapped inside screaming for help. Because the room had many pillows, mattresses, and wooden cabinets, the fire flared up quickly, emitting toxic smoke that spread to the rooms above. Many people were trapped and could not run down to the ground floor, so they went out to the balcony to call for help. Fortunately, the police broke the door in time, approached many rooms and rescued 6 people (including 2 children) to safety.

By 3:40 p.m. the same day, the fire was basically under control.

Initially, the authorities determined that the fire area was about 13/15m2 of a bedroom in the hotel. The fire did not cause any human casualties but burned many items inside the room.

At the scene, it was recorded that the hotel where the fire occurred has 1 ground floor and 5 floors.

Currently, Long Thanh My Ward Police, Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) is investigating the cause of the hotel fire.
