Ho Chi Minh City launched alcohol testing for 100% of crew members
On the morning of November 20, the Waterway Traffic Police force under the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police simultaneously deployed inspections and handled violations on inland waterways to reduce accidents and ensure traffic order and safety.
According to the plan, traffic police will focus on common violations such as unregistered and uninspected vehicles; transporting goods beyond the safe waterline; violating alcohol concentration; and using invalid diplomas and professional certificates. Preventive measures, additional penalties and requests for correction will be strictly applied according to regulations.
In addition to checking documents, the authorities also guide vehicle owners to follow correct registration and inspection procedures and require a commitment not to operate the vehicle without ensuring technical safety.
Based on the hydrological situation and the movement of vehicles, the Traffic Police deployed forces to strictly control the overloading situation and resolutely revoked the professional certificates of violators. At the same time, the unit coordinated with the Port Authority and inland waterway ports to request the removal of the excess cargo before the ship continued its journey.

In addition, 100% of crew members and vehicle operators on duty are tested for alcohol levels; all violations are strictly handled. Document verification and review work has also been enhanced to detect certificates that have been edited, erased or not issued by competent authorities.
At the same time, the traffic police force continues to propagate and remind vehicle owners to raise awareness of compliance with waterway traffic laws. All violations will be handled properly, sufficiently and thoroughly in the spirit of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions".
