Sharing at the event, Mr. Nguyen Truong Thi, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that the merger of Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces into Ho Chi Minh City has opened up a large development space, bringing the economic scale to about 120 billion USD, accounting for 23.5% of the country's GDP.
On that foundation, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to become an "international megacity", playing the role of a center for production, logistics, finance, and high technology, connecting the global supply chain through a system of seaports, international airports, and inter-regional transportation networks.
According to the Resolution of the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress (term 2025-2030), logistics is identified as one of the 10 key areas and a spearhead service industry, playing an important role in promoting the city's socio -economic development.
The goal is to become a logistics service center of Southeast Asia by 2030; and to become a logistics center of Asia and the world by 2045.

To realize this vision, the leader of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City said that, in addition to promoting investment in inter-regional connectivity infrastructure, Ho Chi Minh City needs to focus on breakthrough solutions, in which dual transformation, digital transformation and green transformation are considered key in the logistics sector.
Therefore, the application of digital technology, big data, automation and green transport solutions will help form a smart logistics system, increase operational efficiency, shorten time, reduce costs and optimize added value for goods, especially export goods.
At the workshop, researchers from the Ho Chi Minh City Logistics and Seaport Association, experts from the University of Economics (UEH) and representatives of leading enterprises shared updated information on trends and solutions for digital transformation in logistics.
The content focuses on digital transformation in the supply chain, supply chain management models in logistics enterprises and document digitization solutions to improve operational efficiency, increase management capacity and reduce costs for businesses.
In particular, the Q&A session with experts at the workshop provided an in-depth perspective on applying technology to address challenges in the transformation process.
Experts emphasize that, to move towards green logistics and sustainable development, businesses need to proactively invest in digital infrastructure, standardize processes, strengthen chain linkages and apply modern management standards.
