
On the morning of July 31, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction in collaboration with Phuong Trang Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company - FUTA Bus Lines (the operator) held a ceremony to officially announce the operation of 35 subsidized bus routes, including 27 routes using electric buses.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Phan Van Hai - Deputy General Director of Phuong Trang Company said that the official acceptance and operation of 35 subsidized bus routes this time is not only a step forward in transportation, but also opens a new chapter in the journey of building a green, smart, friendly and accessible public transport network for all people.
This time, Phuong Trang put into operation 557 completely new vehicles, including 443 electric buses (for 27 routes). All vehicles meet international quality standards, are manufactured by Kim Long Motor Factory ( Hue ), integrate modern, environmentally friendly technology, and promise to bring a comfortable, safe and convenient experience to passengers.
“The well-invested charging station system is a testament to our capacity to develop public transport infrastructure. Not only does it ensure stable vehicle operation, it also demonstrates our commitment to joining hands to create a sustainable, modern and efficient urban transport system,” Mr. Hai emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Vinh Toan - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City said that after the merger, Ho Chi Minh City has 164 bus routes. Recently, the City has been gradually implementing the conversion of buses from using fossil fuels to using electricity and green energy.
On behalf of the Department of Construction, Mr. Toan praised the Public Transport Management Center for being proactive and responsible in re-bidding routes and converting to electric buses in Ho Chi Minh City as well as effectively coordinating with related units. Through this implementation, the Center has reviewed and adjusted the route network and operating time to suit the reality, contributing to perfecting the bus system, better serving the travel needs of the people.
According to Mr. Toan, up to now, Ho Chi Minh City has 21 electric bus routes with 170 buses and starting tomorrow (August 1), the operating unit will put into operation an additional 443 electric buses with 27 routes. From there, the number of electric buses operating in the city is 613, accounting for 26.2% of the vehicle fleet.

“Thus, if we include the existing fleet of vehicles using CNG (about 500 vehicles), the rate of clean, environmentally friendly vehicles in Ho Chi Minh City will reach 48%. This is a remarkable step towards the goal of 100% of buses using green energy by 2030. Currently, the Department of Construction has advised the City People's Committee to submit to the City People's Council a roadmap for converting vehicles using fossil fuels to vehicles using electricity and green energy in the city,” said Mr. Nguyen Vinh Toan, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction.

To ensure the smooth and effective operation of the new bus system, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Toan - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction requested that the Department's specialized departments and divisions proactively coordinate and provide technical, legal and management support, helping the system operate stably and sustainably.

The Public Transport Management Center is tasked with closely monitoring the actual operation process, promptly handling arising situations, and listening to feedback from people to continuously improve and enhance service quality.
In particular, Mr. Toan emphasized the role of transport units, including Phuong Trang Company, in maintaining service quality, ensuring safety, civilization, and modern public service standards, meeting the expectations of the city's residents.
According to the operator, the new bus routes are planned synchronously, ensuring reasonable travel time, closely connected with future metro routes, creating a smooth and convenient public transport network for both residents and tourists.
