
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Vinh Toan, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, said that after merging units, Ho Chi Minh City now has 164 bus routes. The operation of electric bus routes is a step forward in the transition to green, environmentally friendly vehicles. From August 1, the total number of electric buses in the area will be 613, accounting for 26.2% of the total number of buses. Combined with about 500 existing CNG vehicles, the rate of clean vehicles in Ho Chi Minh City reaches 45%. This is a step forward towards the goal of 100% of buses using green energy by 2030.

Mr. Phan Van Hai, Deputy General Director of FUTA Bus Lines, said that the operation of 35 subsidized bus routes will serve people traveling within Ho Chi Minh City more conveniently, contributing to reducing emissions and noise pollution in the transportation sector, improving the urban atmosphere... The route system is planned synchronously, ensuring reasonable travel time, smooth routes, closely connected with the future metro system, thereby creating a unified public transport network, convenient for people and tourists.
Electric buses are manufactured by Kim Long Motor factory ( Hue ), meeting international standards, ensuring comfort and flexible capacity from 30 - 40 seats, up to 60 seats (depending on the route).
