This match witnessed a fierce score competition, when the two players continuously surpassed each other. Quyet Chien started the game better and led his opponent in the first shots. When he was trailing 13-16, the Greek player scored a series of 6 points to take the lead 19-16. Then, Kokkoris continued to score 4 more points in the 11th shot to lead 23-16 and bring the match into the break.

The second half witnessed Tran Quyet Chien's comeback. The 1984-born player scored 6 points in 1 turn and 5 points in 2 turns. The world number 2 took the lead and led Kokkoris 29-27, 34-29, 37-31, 38-35, 39-37... However, in the final scores, Tony Tran had difficulty finishing. This created an opportunity for the Greek player to break away and reach 40 points first.
