(PLVN) - On the morning of May 12, at Tu Dam Pagoda (Truong An Ward, Thuan Hoa District), the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Hue City held the official ceremony of Buddha's Birthday - Buddhist calendar 2569 with the participation of a large number of monks, nuns, and Buddhists.

Opening the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Khe Chon, Vice President of the Executive Council, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hue City, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Great Buddha's Birthday in Hue, proclaimed the Buddha's Birthday Message of Buddhist calendar 2569 of the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Most Venerable Thich Khe Chon solemnly announced the Buddha's Birthday Message - Buddhist year 2569 of the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

A large number of monks, nuns and Buddhists attended the official ceremony of Buddha's Birthday, Buddhist calendar 2569 - Gregorian calendar 2025.

Not only does it have profound spiritual value, Vesak is also an occasion to remind everyone of the spirit of compassion, wisdom and peace , the core values in the Buddha's teachings, thereby leading to a peaceful, harmonious and humane life.

Most Venerable Thich Hue Phuoc, Standing Member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the City Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, read the Buddha's birthday speech of the Most Venerable Elder, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

The speech called on the Buddhist community around the world to diligently practice the Dharma together, nurture inner peace, spread the energy of compassion and wisdom, and make practical contributions to the common peace and happiness of all humanity.

In the solemn atmosphere at Tu Dam Pagoda, Most Venerable Elder Thich Duc Thanh burned incense and prayed, while the Venerable monks and nuns and Buddhist followers chanted the name of the Master and recited the Birthday Prayer to pray for the glory of the nation, the longevity of the Dharma, world peace, and the happiness of all living beings.

At the ceremony, the flower offering delegation led by the Youth Union Leader and Young Buddhists of Hue City formed meaningful flower shapes to offer in commemoration of the Buddha's birthday.

This year's Vesak celebration in Hue City has profound significance as it takes place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); at the same time, it is also the time when the United Nations Vesak 2025 was successfully held in Ho Chi Minh City.

This is also an opportunity to strengthen solidarity among monks, nuns, Buddhists and people, together cultivating virtue, spreading compassion and true wisdom; at the same time affirming the mission of 'Buddhism accompanying the community', contributing to building a harmonious, humane and sustainable society."
