The moon is still bright after the flood
Tu Le is a locality that is often heavily affected by natural disasters. Storm No. 10 caused damage to many households' houses, crops, and infrastructure; landslides, schools buried by rocks and soil, and the lives of the people were full of difficulties. However, at schools in the commune, the Mid-Autumn Festival was still organized for children by commune officials, youth union members, teachers, and armed forces.

At Tu Le Primary and Secondary School, the schoolyard was cleaned, the laughter of 1,173 students resounded loudly. To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, students enjoyed performances and participated in a fruit tray presentation contest; students with difficult circumstances and families affected by floods received gifts from Tu Le commune. All of this created a simple and warm Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere.

Teacher Dinh Van Lap - Principal of Tu Le Secondary School said: Storm No. 10 buried the entire school yard with thousands of cubic meters of soil, but Tu Le commune promptly mobilized forces and equipment to help; the school quickly overcame the consequences to welcome students back to school, and promptly organized the Mid-Autumn Festival for students. Although the flood caused damage and affected teaching and learning, the locality and the school always showed love and care so that students could have a full moon festival "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival" in the true sense.
Joy of the full moon festival
On the evening of October 5 (ie August 14 of the lunar calendar), at Tu Le Primary School, the "Full Moon Festival" was held simply but full of emotion. The school yard was lit up by dozens of star lanterns. In the bustling sound of lion drums, hundreds of children - mostly Thai and Mong ethnic children - carried lanterns along Highway 32 in the commune center. Small gifts including cakes, candies, and milk were displayed among the children's circles. Each gift was of small value, but contained the affection and cooperation of local authorities, charitable organizations, businesses and individuals from all over sent to Tu Le.

“The school organized a Mid-Autumn Festival for students at the central and satellite schools. In addition, with the support of parents of students in each class, we also gave gifts to students with especially difficult circumstances, encouraging them to go to school and excel in their studies” - shared teacher Nguyen Thi Nguyet - Principal of Tu Le Primary School.

In recent days, while Tu Le is still in the process of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, the mass organizations, police, and army have joined hands to contribute. For schools damaged by storm No. 10, Tu Le commune has prioritized sending forces to support and help clear rocks and soil so that students can return to school soon and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The eyes and smiles of children seem to warm the entire Tu Le mountains and forests. In the sky after the rain, the August moon gradually brightens.

Hoang Thi Ngoc Ha - a 9th grade student at Tu Le Secondary School said happily: "Many of our students' families had their houses damaged by floodwaters and lost all their belongings, so when the school organized the Mid-Autumn Festival, we were very happy and promised to try our best to study well."

Moon of Hope
In response to the damage to the people of Tu Le, these days, many charity groups have traveled hundreds of kilometers of mountain passes to bring Mid-Autumn Festival gifts and support gifts to the people and children in the flooded areas. On this occasion, many remote schools that were damaged have also received support from groups to repair, and to donate books and school supplies so that students can return to school soon.

Mid-Autumn Festival is not only a festival for children, but also an occasion to connect love - showing the strength of the community to help the flood-affected areas to revive. The Party Committee, government and organizations of Tu Le commune joined hands to organize the "Full Moon Festival Night", mobilized social resources to provide 200 gifts, and supported schools with 14 million VND to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Ms. Dinh Thu Huong - Vice Chairman of Tu Le Commune People's Committee said: Although there was damage due to floods, it did not mean that the Mid-Autumn Festival for children was not missed. Tu Le Commune has directed schools to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for students from the 12th to the 14th of the 8th lunar month. Up to today (October 6), all 6 schools in the commune have completed the organization of the Mid-Autumn Festival for students and ensured that the children can celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in a warm and loving atmosphere.

This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival in Tu Le may not be as sparkling as other places, but it is filled with love. This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival may not be as full as expected, but the smiles of the children in Tu Le still shine with the star-shaped lanterns shining with joy and happiness.
