(QNO) – After returning from studying in Israel, Mr. Pham Hong Tuan Anh (born in 1995, Tien Ha commune, Tien Phuoc) gave up his stable job and invested his efforts and money in a fruit tree growing model combined with livestock farming on his family's land.

In 2017, Tuan Anh graduated from Hue University of Agriculture, majoring in Plant Science. After graduating from university, he continued his training in Israel in the field of agronomy with a work-study program. In 2019, Tuan Anh returned to Vietnam and was in charge of technology for a company in Dak Nong specializing in growing avocados and durians.

After a year in a foreign land, Tuan Anh realized that the above job did not satisfy him with many plans he had cherished, so he decided to give up and return to his hometown to build a model of growing fruit trees and raising poultry in an organic direction. The farm was built on a 4-hectare land in Tien Ha (Tien Phuoc) and is called Hai Son Farm.

With encouragement and financial support from his family, Tuan Anh invested in installing an irrigation system and renovating a 4-hectare land that was previously barren to plant thousands of banana, Thai jackfruit, mangosteen, areca and propagate native lemon trees. His initial capital was over 800 million VND.

In addition, he also dug ponds to raise black apple snails and ornamental fish and used biological waste as natural food, limiting waste discharge into the environment, helping the animals grow quickly. He also raised hundreds of free-range chickens for fertilizer, raised bees to pollinate the plants...

Tuan Anh has applied the knowledge he learned domestically and the experience he gained from working abroad to agriculture to organize production according to VietGap process, combining the use of chicken manure, rotten grass and   Natural fish carcasses are composted to fertilize plants. He regularly monitors the growth cycle and flowering time of each plant to fertilize and water appropriately.

“I want to spread my experience in gardening as a method of... weed management. Normally, farmers will remove all the grass on the ground because they are worried that it will compete with the nutrients of the plants, but this is the "secret" to help the plants grow better.

I keep the grass because when fertilizing the plants, the excess fertilizer will cause soil degradation, the grass will naturally absorb this fertilizer. When the grass finishes its life cycle, it will decompose to create organic matter, which is a very good natural fertilizer that helps plants continue to absorb. Not to mention that the grass also helps regulate the temperature of the soil" - Tuan Anh confided.

After two years of careful cultivation and care, Tuan Anh's garden has begun to bear fruit. The poultry, fish and snails have multiplied to thousands. He calculated that with lemons priced at VND20,000/kg, Thai jackfruit at VND50,000/kg, and chickens at VND130,000/kg, he would earn an annual profit of more than VND100 million after deducting expenses.

In the locality, Tuan Anh is not only a good gardener but also actively advises and helps farmers on techniques for caring for plants from the time they are first germinated until they flower and bear fruit. In addition, he also undertakes the construction of semi-automatic irrigation systems for many gardeners in Nui Thanh and Phu Ninh districts, bringing him a significant source of income.

Mr. Pham Hong Son - Tuan Anh's father said that when he entered university, he oriented his son to pursue a career in agriculture because the family had already built a foundation. After learning and gaining experience outside, he could return home and start working right away.

"We are willing to share our experiences with farmers to develop together. I always encourage and trust my son in his chosen career. Hopefully, in the future, this model will be even more effective," said Mr. Son.
