Lac Giao Communal House is not only a place for spiritual and religious activities of Kinh people living in Buon Ma Thuot city, but also a place for connecting, meeting and exchanging cultures of ethnic groups living in Dak Lak province. Joining the atmosphere of the Spring Festival this year are Then melodies and Tinh lutes of the Tay and Nung ethnic groups. Then singing is often considered as the song of heaven and earth, a spiritual bridge between humans and gods, expressed through simple and profound voices. Then songs not only tell stories of everyday life and customs but also express the philosophy of life and aspirations of people.
Dak Lak province is home to 49 ethnic groups, including Kinh, Ede, M'nong, Thai, Tay, Nung... Leaving the Northwest mountains and forests to settle in the Central Highlands, the Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic groups brought with them the Tinh instrument and unique Then melodies. After hours of hard work, they sat together, playing the instrument and singing their homeland melodies, enriching the cultural life in the new land. The Tinh instrument and Then singing, sung in harmony with the drums and gongs of the local ethnic minorities, created a cultural picture rich in the identity of the ethnic groups living in Dak Lak province.
