According to the New York Post , the makeup style of fake freckles is becoming popular among young people. Many people have discovered a method of fake freckles quite easily, using a tool that is in everyone's kitchen - that is broccoli.
Videos related to this makeup trend have attracted hundreds of thousands of views. In the videos, people use broccoli and foundation or bronzer in a shade darker than their skin tone to create natural-looking spots that look like real freckles.
Swedish model uses broccoli to create fake freckles (Video: @cajsawessberg).
Paulina Reitman - a young TikToker - tried to create freckles this way. She shared that the result was much more amazing than she imagined. Moreover, she did not need to look far and wide for tools to create fake freckles when broccoli can do it.
This trend has many benefits for freckle-loving makeup lovers. Takwa Larsen (from Türkiye) said that broccoli plants are much healthier than the henna tattoo kit she used to create fake freckles.
In 2021, Australian content creator Tilly Whitfeld also shared with The Post that she was temporarily blinded after using needles and ink bought online to get fake freckles.
"My skin is still healing, but it will never go back to how it was before. I have permanent scarring," Whitfeld said.
Therefore, the method of creating freckles with broccoli is increasingly popular. Model Cajsa Wessberg (from Sweden) even attracted 48.8 million views and more than 614,000 likes when posting a video of her applying makeup with broccoli. As a result, many beauty bloggers (people working in the field of beauty online) and many makeup lovers also tried this method.
Although receiving a lot of support, using broccoli for makeup also encounters some mixed opinions.
Social media user Dima wrote: "Broccoli is food, not makeup. Many places in the world are still struggling with hunger. I think social media stars should have respect for food."
Another account wrote: "Before, people were bullied for having freckles but now it's a trend. It's confusing."
