INFORMATION ABOUT THE PAINTING OF EMPEROR QUANG TRUNG Material: Lacquer carving - Size: 70 x 90 cm Adapted from a Dong Ho folk painting. Nguyen Hue (1753 – 1792), also known as Emperor Quang Trung or Bac Binh Vuong, was the second emperor of the Tay Son dynasty (reigned from 1788 to 1792) after Emperor Thai Duc Nguyen Nhac - Nguyen Hue's older brother. The three brothers Nguyen Nhac, Nguyen Hue, and Nguyen Lu were all brilliant heroes of Dai Viet. When the country was divided into Dang Trong and Dang Ngoai, the three brothers Nguyen Hue recruited soldiers day and night, gathered troops, trained them in martial arts, and tamed them. Emperor Nguyen Hue himself personally sought out talented people knowledgeable in military strategy to help his army. The legend of Emperor Quang Trung is recorded in historical texts: curly hair, a resonant voice like a chime, eyes as bright as lightning, able to see clearly in the dark. According to the book "Biographies," Nguyen Hue possessed extraordinary strength, resourcefulness, and strategic brilliance. He also had a "voice as resonant as a bell, and a gaze as sharp as lightning." He was appointed Long Nhương General at the young age of 26, during the reign of his elder brother, Nguyen Nhac. With his strategic brilliance, King Quang Trung was one of the most talented political leaders in Vietnamese history, implementing numerous reforms to build the nation and excelling in military affairs, winning battles in the East and North: repelling the Siamese army, suppressing the rebellion in Northern Vietnam, and driving out the 200,000 invading Qing troops... without a single defeat. The proclamation is "A Call to Arms for the Generals and Soldiers," read by King Quang Trung at his coronation ceremony: "Fight so that their hair grows long, fight so that their teeth remain black, fight so that their wheels cannot turn back, fight so that their armor cannot return, fight so that history knows that the heroic nation of Vietnam has a leader." The display of Quang Trung's paintings reflects the national spirit of remembering one's roots and showing gratitude. Through countless sacrifices and bloodshed by our ancestors, the Vietnamese people have achieved what they have today. With a great national spirit, people always remember and commemorate the contributions of this heroic commoner in particular, and the soldiers in general. With their talents, displaying paintings of King Quang Trung also brings intelligence and wisdom to people in their work and life. For businesspeople and leaders, lacquer paintings of King Quang Trung help increase opportunities, luck, and potential. Leadership and problem-solving skills are important. Quang Trung lacquer paintings also have the effect of warding off bad luck from affecting the family when placed in the living room and are usually hung in a prominent place.
