On June 7, the People's Committee of Long An province held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision and award the "Fatherland's Gratitude" certificate to the relatives of Martyr Nguyen Xuan Hao, Lieutenant Colonel of the Traffic Police of Duc Hoa district, who died while on duty to prevent and arrest drug criminals.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Lam Minh Hong, Director of Long An Provincial Police, acknowledged the sacrifice of Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Hao and shared the loss and pain with comrade Hao's family.
Before the sacrifice of Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Hao, Long An Provincial Police launched a campaign among officers and soldiers of the Provincial Police to learn from the example of sacrifice of Comrade Hao so that Long An police force can continue to strive, study, train, work well, wholeheartedly and with all their might to serve the Fatherland and the people.
As reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, on April 21, Duc Hoa District Police coordinated with functional agencies to patrol and control Provincial Road 824, through My Hanh Nam Commune (Duc Hoa District, Long An) to arrest criminals transporting drugs. When the functional forces signaled to stop a pickup truck 49C-296.01 traveling from the border area towards Ho Chi Minh City for an administrative check, the driver did not comply and crashed straight into Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Hao, causing Lieutenant Colonel Hao to die.
The car continued to rush forward, hitting Huynh Nguyen Chi Man (29 years old, Ward 2, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) and Phan Thi Kim Thanh (50 years old, Tan Thoi Nhat Ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City), killing them.
When the car overturned, the two suspects locked the doors and refused to comply with the requests of law enforcement. Local residents and law enforcement had to use sticks to pry open the car doors to get the two suspects out.
Conducting an inspection on car 49C-296.01, the authorities discovered and seized 5kg of suspected crystal meth and 4 cakes of suspected heroin. Searching the residences of the related subjects, they detained 3 more subjects and seized 1kg of suspected crystal meth and 14 cakes of suspected heroin.
Initial investigation results show that Nguyen Van Thanh was the driver who directly drove the car carrying Huynh Trung Hieu (32 years old, Loc Hiep hamlet, An Ninh Dong commune, Duc Hoa district, Long An) transporting drugs, killing Lieutenant Colonel Hao, Mr. Man, and Ms. Thanh.
The Investigation Police Agency has issued a decision to prosecute and issue a detention order for Nguyen Van Thanh (46 years old, residing in An Ninh Hamlet, An Ninh Tay Commune, Duc Hoa District, Long An) to investigate the crime of murder and temporarily detained 4 other people involved in the act of buying, selling and illegally transporting drugs.

After Lieutenant Colonel Hao died, the Ministry of Public Security decided to promote Martyr Nguyen Xuan Hao from Major to Lieutenant Colonel.
In response to the sacrifice of Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Hao, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed a decision to award a Certificate of Merit to Martyr Nguyen Xuan Hao, Lieutenant Colonel of the Duc Hoa District Traffic Police, who died while on duty to prevent and arrest a subject illegally transporting drugs.
At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee Huynh Van Son presented the Prime Minister's Decision and the "Fatherland's Gratitude" certificate to the relatives of Martyr Nguyen Xuan Hao.
On this occasion, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An province awarded a decision on monthly allowance to relatives of Martyr Nguyen Xuan Hao.
