Presenting the Consular Acceptance Certificate to the new US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City

On August 18, in Hanoi, Director of the Consular Department Doan Hoang Minh presented the Consular Acceptance Certificate to Ms. Melissa A. Brown, the new Consul General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City.

Director of the Consular Department Doan Hoang Minh presented the Consular Acceptance Certificate to Ms. Melissa A. Brown, the new Consul General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City.

Attending the ceremony were officials from the Consular Department and the US Embassy in Vietnam, including Ambassador Marc Knapper.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director Doan Hoang Minh congratulated Ms. Melissa A. Brown on her new position, expressing his belief that with her extensive diplomatic experience, the new Consul General will make practical and effective contributions to the development of the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the United States, especially in the consular field. He affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consular Department and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs, together with Vietnamese authorities, will continue to closely coordinate, accompany and create favorable conditions for Ms. Melissa A. Brown to successfully complete her term of office.

Director Doan Hoang Minh emphasized that in the context of the two countries actively implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework in a substantive and sustainable manner, based on trust, common interests and long-term vision, enhancing consular cooperation, facilitating exchanges, travel and people-to-people exchanges is extremely important, contributing to consolidating a solid foundation for bilateral relations.

The new US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that he will do his best to promote cooperation between the two countries, thereby contributing to supporting Vietnam to successfully achieve its development goals.

On this occasion, Ms. Melissa A. Brown expressed her honor to assume the responsibility of the US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City. She sincerely thanked the warm welcome as well as the effective support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese authorities for the US representative agency in the past time.

Expressing her good impression of the country and people of Vietnam, she was pleased to see that the Vietnam-US relationship is increasingly developing in many priority areas, especially economics, science, technology, education and people-to-people exchange.

The new Consul General affirmed that he will make every effort to promote cooperation between the two countries, thereby contributing to supporting Vietnam to successfully achieve its development goals, including the aspiration to become a developed, high-income country by 2045.
