After the official working session, the delegation spent time visiting a number of economic and social facilities in Chemnitz city.
Chemnitz is the third largest city in the state of Saxony, with a population of about 240,000 people, famous for its tradition of mechanical engineering, automobiles, sensor and micro technology, with an average GDP of nearly 36,000 Euros/person.
The city will be the European Capital of Culture in 2025, with many outstanding research, educational and cultural facilities, playing the role of a center of innovation and international cooperation in the region.
