Accordingly, from July 1, 2025, Da Nang city and Quang Nam province will merge into the new Da Nang city, opening up a large development space with an area of nearly 12,000km2 and a population of more than 3 million people.
With 2 major airports, 3 international seaports, 2 world cultural heritages, biosphere reserves and many infrastructures of high-tech zones, economic zones, industrial zones, free trade zones, etc., Da Nang has many favorable conditions to enhance international cooperation, attract investment, trade, tourism, science and technology, innovation, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, cloud computing technology, etc.
In particular, Da Nang has many unique cultural products to introduce to international friends such as Hoi An ancient town, Cham Sculpture Museum, international fireworks festival...
The Vietnamese Government has issued many special mechanisms and policies to Da Nang, aiming to become a growth pole of Vietnam. In the coming time, the city will issue many attractive policies to attract international investors.
Chemnitz and Da Nang have many similarities and potential for development cooperation. Therefore, Chairman of the City People's Council Nguyen Duc Dung suggested that the two sides cooperate in the fields of training, educational cooperation, scientific research and innovation.
At the same time, the exchange of experts, sharing of experiences in urban development, strengthening business connections and cultural and tourism exchanges are also strengths for the two sides to promote.

The city is the European Capital of Culture in 2025, with many outstanding research, educational and cultural facilities, playing the role of a center of innovation and international cooperation in the region.
