On the evening of January 15th, the family of the late musician and Meritorious Artist Bac Son collaborated with the Lac Long Quan Theater Club to organize a scholarship awarding ceremony named after him at the Trinh Kim Chi Theater (1st floor, 5B Vo Van Tan Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City).

For six years now, the scholarship program named after musician Bac Son has been organized by the family of singer Bich Thuy, spreading inspiration and motivation to many children of artists and stage workers to continue striving in their studies.

Seventy scholarships and gifts worth over 50 million VND were awarded to children of artists in difficult circumstances and stage workers in need of assistance.

Artist Cao My Chau said that every year her children receive scholarships and gifts, which, although small, are warm and full of affection from the family of the late musician Bac Son - a musician who was closely associated with the folk music genre that she herself also loves to sing.

According to singer Bich Thuy, the ninth daughter of composer Bac Son, the arts community in Ho Chi Minh City has three scholarship funds: the Bay Nam People's Artist Scholarship, the Vien Chau People's Artist Scholarship, and the Bac Son Meritorious Artist Scholarship. She strives to maintain these scholarship funds so that she can meet with studious children of artists and stage workers every year.

This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theatre sent a list of five outstanding students, children of theatre workers, to receive Tet gifts. Mr. Ha Van Cuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theatre, said that this is a meaningful activity, contributing to caring for and encouraging the children of artists and theatre workers to continue their education and achieve many academic successes.

In addition, there were also children of stage workers from the Tran Huu Trang Theater, Huynh Long Troupe, Lac Long Quan Theater Club, etc.

"For many years, our family has wholeheartedly dedicated ourselves to this meaningful work, despite the difficulties. Furthermore, after the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, we will continue to organize school stage performances, bringing my father's songs into schools," said singer Bich Thuy.

Singer Bich Phuong, a member of the Bac Son Love Songs Performing Arts Troupe, recounted: "While he was alive, composer Bac Son taught visually impaired children at Nguyen Dinh Chieu School. He used his salary and earnings from acting and composing music to buy books and school supplies for visually impaired children from impoverished families."

His aspirations were so beautiful that his children followed in his footsteps, sharing their love with the younger generation, especially the children of artists and stage workers who face many hardships in life."

The scholarship awarding ceremony also featured performances by artists such as Bich Phuong, Khanh Tuan, Vinh Sang, Hoang Trung Anh, La Tran Duc Thien, Chau Nhat Tin, Huy Truong, Di Oanh, Yen Phuong, Thu Thao… and actors from the Lac Long Quan Theater Club.

The artists performed many songs by composer Bac Son, including those he wrote about spring.
