Recently, the trend of selling take-away coffee has become a hot trend when many points of sale appear on the streets. This type of business was born to solve the problem of saving time when life is increasingly busy and hectic. Grasping the demand, many young people have boldly opened take-away coffee businesses and initially had a favorable start.
In the context of the booming coffee take-away business, not everyone can grasp the favorable sales opportunity to achieve high sales. However, with intelligence, acumen and mastery of technology, Nguyen Thi Ha (born in 1997), Hoang Lau commune (Tam Duong) has had an impressive start-up in the coffee take-away business.
Although she only sells for about 4 hours a day (from 6am to 10am), Ha's average revenue still reaches 1 million VND/day, equivalent to 30 million VND/month. From the take-away coffee business, she also has other sources of income such as training students on how to make coffee, supplying ingredients to students and selling online.
Nguyen Thi Ha's videos attract tens of thousands of likes.
In 2016, Ha went to work in Japan for 4 years, then decided to return home because she did not want to be far from home, in a restrictive and stressful working environment. Returning to Vietnam, the young woman tried her hand at many jobs, but now she has "fallen in love" with the take-away coffee business.
Around March 2024, Ha opened a take-away coffee shop. She chose Ly Thai To Street (Vinh Yen) - a place with a lot of traffic - to sell every morning. During the sales process, Ha often recorded short videos to post on social networks. Surprisingly, these videos received the attention and views of thousands of people. Some videos even became trending with up to 2 million likes. From here, many young people in neighboring provinces and cities knew Ha and came to her house to ask to learn how to make coffee and experience in opening a shop.
According to Ha, she loves drinking coffee so she learned how to make this drink in Hanoi and then opened a take-away coffee shop. This business method is quite popular in Ho Chi Minh City but is still new in Vinh Phuc so her shop is very popular.
Ha's coffee selling equipment is quite simple, with a small, foldable mobile counter and a few brewing tools. The delicious, strong coffee is sold at an affordable price, from 15,000 to 20,000 VND/cup, so each morning she can sell 60 to 80 cups, equivalent to a revenue of 900,000 to 1,500,000 VND.
The peak time for selling take-away coffee is from 7am to 8am and Ha only sells until about 10am before returning home to prepare goods for the next day, reply to customer messages, pack goods for customers (provide ingredients for students) and make videos...
Vivid, authentic videos reflect Ha's daily business.
At Ha's take-away coffee shop, we saw 2 students from Song Lo district and Phu Tho province learning how to make coffee and experience selling. There are many types of coffee here, but the main ones are still salt, brown, black and silver coffee. Every few minutes, cars and motorbikes stop by to buy coffee, making the students work non-stop. The apprenticeship fee is about 2.5 million VND/student (from 1-2 days). In addition to teaching how to make coffee, Ha also provides ingredients and advises students on opening a sales location.
Nguyen Thi Ha shared: “Before selling coffee, I had a habit of making videos and posting them on Facebook, but not many people were interested. When I started selling coffee, my videos received attention from the online community. The content of my videos revolved around daily sales work, experience selling coffee, publicizing the actual sales revenue of the day... so I attracted many viewers and people to come and learn the profession.”
Many young people in Hai Phong, Phu Tho provinces... know Ha and come to learn bartending and practical sales experience.
In addition to teaching directly, Ha also teaches online. Up to now, dozens of Ha’s students have become professionals and opened businesses. Some even do better business than the “teacher”. According to Ha’s experience, the key point in the take-away coffee business is to choose a good location, convenient and with a lot of traffic. Along with that, the quality of the coffee must be delicious, the price must be reasonable.
Although take-away coffee shops tend to flourish, Ha is not afraid of market saturation. On the contrary, coffee has never been a “dead market” because more and more people like this drink. In fact, there are many people who have opened successful coffee shops, but there are also many who have had to close due to poor business. This shows that business needs to have a way of doing things and be creative to survive the fierce competition in the market.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Ha Hoa district, Phu Tho province - a student of Ha said: “Through social networks, I learned about Ha so I boldly came down to learn how to mix drinks to open a point of sale. Currently, my family has a nail and eyelash salon so I want to add a take-away coffee counter. I find this business suitable, because most customers come to the beauty salon in the middle of the day, so in the morning I can sell take-away coffee. Moreover, this area has many restaurants so this is a feasible business plan”.
It can be seen that the development of society brings along many new industries and business services. For example, the take-away coffee business is currently a hot service, bringing high profits, while the investment cost is insignificant.
With dynamism, agility, and grasp of new business trends, many young people have confidently experienced. Along with the support of 4.0 technology, business is convenient, opening up startup opportunities for many young people in the future.
