Return of remains of US soldiers missing in war
At the handover ceremony, the Vietnamese representative handed over to the US representative two sets of remains, the result of the 154th joint search between Vietnamese and US agencies (February-April 2024). The remains were examined by Vietnamese forensic experts in Da Nang and concluded that they may be related to US soldiers missing during the Vietnam War.
The joint humanitarian search and accounting for U.S. servicemen missing in action in Vietnam, conducted since the late 1980s between the governments of Vietnam and the United States, has so far helped identify more than 720 cases of U.S. servicemen missing in action.
