Thu Tieu Dao is the emotional name that two artists Van Dieu Lien and To Bao An use to introduce to the art-loving public a space to display their passionate works, like a crossroads on each person's artistic journey.
Painter Nguyen Trung Tin, Vice President of Vietnam Fine Arts Association; Professor, Doctor of Sculptor Nguyen Xuan Tien, President of Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association and two painters Van Dieu Lien, To Bao An and family representatives cut the ribbon to open the exhibition.
The exhibition takes place from June 22 to 28 (free entry, at 218A Pasteur, District 3), displaying 68 works using the main materials of oil paint, watercolor, acrylic, ceramics... with many different styles and creative techniques that are clearly and distinctly expressed. The paintings with themes of still life, animals, landscapes, space, environment... express the two artists' experiences of love, family, life, society, guiding viewers to good values and truths.

For artist Van Dieu Lien (also known as Lien Van), paintings are a vast sky to explode in mood with contrasting colors, sometimes entertaining in the silence of elegant, somber colors; sometimes deep from a distant look, exuding a liberal look. Lien Van blurs all details and leaves only a few things in the space as highlights. Everything necessary will fade into the three-dimensional space, the dancing color blocks create a magical space, the artistic magic in the order of the composition.
Painter To Bao An seeks messages from the environment and the natural world through images of animals. By creating symbolic images of animals, the world of painting is an effective means for Bao An to express inner depth, as well as thoughts about life, the environment and today's issues. Although animals are only expressed through eyes, gestures, and behaviors, they have expressed a metaphorical, wordless dialogue between humans and nature. That is the artist's effort to find a way to dialogue with the world around him, and even with his own inner self.
Painter Van Dieu Lien is currently a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association and was a student at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, USA.
Meeting at a stop on their artistic journey, each artist finds a different story for themselves, from which they express their feelings, concerns and stories that need to be expressed through their paintings.
Painting for each artist is like a "pleasure" with all the flavors, both the worries and the joy that art brings. In a way, Thu Tieu Dao is like a way to talk about joy, a kind of love for painting that is both gentle and persistent. This exhibition is considered an opportunity for the two artists to meet, share and give each other positive encouragement on their creative path and love for their profession.
Guests enjoy the paintings
Present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, painter Nguyen Trung Tin, Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, said he was very surprised by the exhibition title and the works. According to him, the works of the two painters in the exhibition have contrasting perspectives and expressions. One is very leisurely, as if avoiding worldly affairs, while the other is attentive to worldly affairs, looking deep into the inner self to analyze, explore and understand.

Painter Nguyen Trung Tin commented: "I have known To Bao An since he was a student. He is someone who always has concerns, even his path in art is contrary to the general trend of today's youth. While others seek contemporary beauty, To Bao An likes to return to find classical values, thereby bringing very different ways of expression compared to young painters. To Bao An studied abroad from the Faculty of Painting - Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Belgium, returning with his own spirit. An's works always express concerns about life, have interesting perspectives, always allowing viewers to contemplate for themselves.
On the contrary, Van Dieu Lien is truly carefree and loves to roam. Her works have a randomness to them. Some people commented that Van Dieu Lien's paintings seem to require little thought, but I think Van Dieu Lien's success is that her paintings have a randomness that brings many impressive emotions. Her watercolors are very good. She knows when to stop in the painting. Even though the two artists have two different ways of looking at art, when combined, they are extremely interesting. A gentle, delicate exhibition that brings many emotions to the viewer."

Sculptor Professor Nguyen Xuan Tien, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, said that the exhibition is a very surprising combination and each artist has their own creative style. Professor Nguyen Xuan Tien said: "Most of Van Dieu Lien's works are still lifes, animals around us, especially landscape paintings. Through each land she has visited, she paints them again, putting her feelings into them. She does not realistically depict natural landscapes, but her writing style exudes a romantic, abstract quality that brings viewers closer to the work - the author through the colors, brush strokes and materials. Van Dieu Lien paints with thoughts, emotions, feelings and connects the painter - the viewer with the brilliant colors.

Meanwhile, To Bao An uses the images of animals around us to draw metaphors describing life. The survival of animals in natural conditions gives viewers multidimensional thoughts about society and the natural environment. He uses art as a very effective language to express his deep thoughts and feelings.
