Through the work Thuy Phu , artist Trinh Minh Tien wants to convey the concept of impermanence, showing the constant change of history and religion through the architectural imprints of humans. Using the airbush spray painting technique, the artist skillfully recreates the image of Hanoi Cathedral on the hood of a car. Hanoi Cathedral is a typical French architectural work in Hanoi built in the gothic style combined with some indigenous elements.
Painting of Living Beings #1 by Pham Tran Viet Nam won the gold prize in the category of Famous Artists.
Artist Luong Xuan Doan, Head of the Jury of the first UOB Painting of the Year competition in Vietnam, commented: "This year's winning work is highly appreciated for its uniqueness in expression techniques, going beyond the framework of traditional painting when experimenting with new materials to convey the profound message of the work. The content of the work is social about deep contemplation of changes in Vietnamese history and culture. In addition, the work has many profound layers of meaning about impermanence. That urges people to look inward to promote sustainable connections between people and between people and the universe."
